2015 Honda Civic Type R from the Photoshopping Block

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2013

After many years of axing sports cars from its range, Honda has finally laid down plans to add performance-orientated models in its lineup, starting from 2015 with the Civic Type R and the new generation NSX (Acura in North America).

While it won't be offered in North America, the Civic Type R is nonetheless a highly anticipated arrival in the hot hatch category, especially after Honda confirmed that it will feature a brand new 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four with more than 280-horsepower.

And oh, did we mention that the Japanese carmaker said it aims to set a lap record for FWD production cars on the 'Ring? Looks like the Renault Megane RS TS (current lap holder – see video here) and the upcoming VW Golf R might have something to worry about.

Up until now, we've see official and unofficial spy shots of the car, as well an artist's rendering from our own Josh Byrnes. This week, the guys from ATC-Design contacted us and shared these fresh photoshops they made of the 2015 Civic Type R in a variety of different colors – you know, so you can decided which one you want when it becomes available. Feel free to take a closer look in the gallery that follows.

Photoshop? Somehow I do not mind so much in this instance. They cannot be that far off of the mark, IMHO. Regardless, it's all in fun and not your future bride or mistress. Too bad, eh? Lol  Enjoy...

Not available in north america?

that sux

280HP turbo?

Sweet

FWD?

ohh

FlatBlackCaddy

300HP(or there abouts) is just too much for the front wheels alone. IMO

I think a 2.0 or 2.2 N/A motor with 240-260HP and individual motor assist on the rear wheels would work better and fit honda's image(tech/performance) better than this.

12,000 RPM

The current 9th gen should have had the 2.2L with ~240HP, no hybrid bullshit.

CR-Z should have been mid engined with IMA at the front

Next Civic Type-R should be a Honda EVO. No hybrid bullshit. Leave that shit for the hippies

A high powered Civic Type R hatch that they won't sell here?  I believe that.

I've also seen spy photos of this one.  So it's probably happening.

The only reason I can think of that they won't bring it here - it won't sell.  Probably too expensive (how many folk would drop 30 grand for a Honda civic?).

I mean, they can have all the money I have. I still can't get over the sticker price (starting at $38K last year, and surely selling for more).

Is it weird that I much preferred the ricer looking previous version's looks?

No. I prefer how this one looks, but I liked the old one quite a bit too.

I actually quite like this new one. Is there a spoiler delete option?

Why does it need 3 tailpipes, and why is the middle one bigger?

It's odd, but there are two mufflers and one helmholtz resonator.

All that from a single pipe.  Must make a hell of a racket.

Kinda tempted to get one of these if I could get it for MSRP.

But a normal Civic or CX-5 is probably a better choice. I don't need a third car that I would feel bad driving in the winter. But I obviously struggle with practicality

No.

I thought it was cool that when everybody else was going understated and "proper," that the Civic went "fuck you, I'm a spaceship."
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Obviously the true answer is a Civic Si turnkey racecar for $55k

What do you have anymore?

Just the Bolt, El Camino, and Miata?  Is the old Mazda 6 and BMW gone?

Yep.

So obviously a $55k turnkey Civic racecar would really round out the garage
