Ahh, one day I just might be as all knowing as you.

You don't even know what gears I'm running now, but you automatically know they're wrong. It's brilliant I tell you.

If you were to read, you'd see that I repeatedly am not interested in changing the cam, and if you'd do some research you'd find that the heads I've mentioned flow better but have close to the same valve sizes as the stock ones; and that the exhaust on these is overly restrictive.

You're acting like I'm installing a race cam and a set of long tube headers on a bus; and I just love the "first timer" comment. OK, first time with a Ford engine for sure. A couple of Cadillac mills, a Chevy stroker and a handful of old school VWs though make it definitely NOT a first timer project except for the details.

And I just "love" the strawman you previously presented ;).

This piece of foolishness. I never said no such thing:

Cougs is right; it's completely ridiculous to think that I could get more power or better mileage from my 24 year old engine without rebuilding every single thing on it. Nobody has ever gotten more than 150 HP from a 302 Windsor before: nobody knows anything about this super rare, extremely high tech engine.

I would be foolish to do anything more than change the oil on it.

The thing is, the engine stuff I've mentioned is pretty far down the list of Things that Need to Be Done.

But, if you buy that blue wagon ( I know, not likely at all), I'll buy the right rear wheel arch trim off of it for a really good price (its already missing the left so it doesn't need the right, right?)

you wouldn't believe how hard that stuff is to find.

No, not really. Found out the heat really struggles when it's below zero

Piece of cardboard in front of the radiator always works.

Yeah. But, The coolant when I got it was pretty muddy, so I'm assuming there's a good build up of crap in the radiator and the heater core, even after I flushed it, I could never get it to run really clear. Its not a big enough thing for me to worry about right now, but eventually I might be replacing the rad and the heater core.

Well, found at least a littel of the heater problem; there's no clutch on the fan. Somebody at some time put a spacer on it, so the fan runs constantly.

I have a thermostatic clutch intended for a Jaguar that's a bit too short for me. You can have it if it fits - it's a Hayden 2765.

Well, the Truckster failed me for the first time today. She cranks, but won't start, and after covering all the basics, I'm sending it to the shop to get fixed.  I'm thinking the coil gave out, but as I have no time to deal with it today, I'm having it towed to a mechanic I know.

Mild weather with a lot of moisture in the air...hairline cracks in distributor cap or coil?

Actually, it's pretty frenzy right now.

Anyways, yeah. Took the cap off, wiped off the insides, put it back on. She starts right up.

Tow truck was already on its way though, so she's going to the shop anyways. Lots of other stuff for them to work on while it's there I suppose.

The shocks are on in the back, but not the front yet. Not as harsh as I'd expected, and I already notice a huge difference in squat and dive. I might just ask if this guy will put the fronts on for me.
