Mechanics are for girly men.

Well, he did meet Joe so that probably lowered his manliness by quite a bit

My manliness is not that fragile. Now excuse me, my daughter wants to paint my nails.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

French manicures are manly enough. Go for it if she has the skill.

She's two. She barely has the skills to get it on my fingernail.

Yeah. Not a bad way to go. You don't think it looks too sportsy for a wood covered wagon?

They work on the green car there: then again, its not covered in fake wood either...

Well, got the new shocks on the car today. Huge difference in handling at only a minor penalty on the ride over rough roads only. If the roads around here weren't completely bombed out by the spring thaw, it'd be awesome all around. I'm definitely going to have to hit the junkyards and find a CVPI sway bar and springs when I get a chance.

It also occurs to me that I should have run baseline skidpad and braking numbers with this phone app before starting to tinker with things.

I just saw a set of these kind of concave-ish wheels on a Crown Victoria earlier today and thought "those might look good"

That's a great local brewery that we have. Do I drink their beer? No.

Soup DeVille

They might.

Think the waggin has developed a slight head gasket leak (no, that's not at all like being sorta pregnant); coolant has turned brownish. No foam, no milky look in the oil, no weird engine temp spikes, and no loss of power and she stills purrs like a kitten, so its gotta be small.

I ran the Toronado with foaming coolant for an entire summer before I sold it to some Jehovah's witness kid (an act I no longer feel badly about), and I'm gonna give some of that Blue devil sealer stuff a try; but this might end up bumping up my plans for engine stuffs.

Awesome.

All I need to start out with is a couple of days in a junkyard finding stuff. It's going to be a lot easier finding 302s to wortk with than it ever was finding 472/500 Cadillac stuff.

Well, finally got around to solving the wheel/tire problem. I'm having the originals re-powdercoated and going to 225 rubber, which is the same size spec'd for the police cars of that era. So, its a very mild change really, but I had a Mercury Marauder wheel on the left rear just to see how it looked and it looked like ass.

Then, I found a crack on one of the wheels, so I went to the junkyard to find another one: which I did, but I also got most of the the top of a V8 Explorer engine with it. Two GT40P heads, wiring harness, ECU and intake manifold up to the air cleaner.

Don't have any idea how long it'll be until I actually do anything with it, but at least I won't be able to claim I'm bored.

This was the second car I owned: 1986 Volvo 240GL Estate. It had a 2.3L four with a single Solex carb, manual transmission. It had been owned by the investment bank I used to work for & had minimal mileage When I first saw it, it was in an underground parking garage in London, where it had been parked in a dark corner for more than a year. It was covered in such a thick layer of dust that it was hard to see the paint. But it was a dry environment, and it was in great shape underneath the grime. I miss it. Never gave me any problems. Sold it when I moved to the USA in 1992.

The Truckster got smoked by a whale with bad shocks today.

On the way home I spotted a Caprice wagon; beige with wood, so it matched the Mercury. I think the dual exhaust marks it as a '94-'96 with the LT1 engine. Old dude drivin' it had a fierce grey old man beard, like he was a sea captain from the age of sail.

So, I pulled up next to him with my wrist draped over the wheel, and look over at him and rev the engine. I shit you not, but this old dude pulls out a corn cob pipe and lights i, and manages to just take a puff before the light turns. I think he's just ignoring me, but he nails it and the Caprice scoots off with surprising speed and a slight tire squeal. I've got no chance, but try anyways. It's no good, and that dude's tail lights just keep gettin smaller in front of me.
