Jaguar Teases Sexy Look of Upcoming F-Type Coupe

Jaguar has released a teaser overhead photo of the coming coupe version of the new F-Type sports car and its appears to have a sexy form evocative of both the classic 1960s E-Type coupe and Jaguar's more recent C-X16 concept car, first shown in 2011.

Jag says the coupe will have a global unveiling November 19 at a posh customer and media event in Los Angeles on the eve of the L.A. Auto Show media preview. Then it will be displayed the next day on the Jaguar stands at both the L.A. and Tokyo motor shows. If you don't make the VIP list for the coupe reveal, Jaguar plans to stream the event live online as well.

The F-Type convertible went on sale in the U.S. last spring, the coupe is due here in the coming spring.

aluminum F-TYPE Coupe range will deliver in production form the uncompromised design vision of the Jaguar C-X16 concept, and will complement the existing F-TYPE Convertible, winner of the 2013 'World Car Design of the Year' award. The F-TYPE Coupe will go on sale in North America in spring 2014.

Jaguar's star design director Ian Callum, said in a statement that he was excited about doing a coupe version of the roadster he designed: "We've been overwhelmed by the positive reaction to the F-Type convertible, but for me the purity of creating a sports coupe is a uniquely satisfying process – and I know that both visually and dynamically, F-Type coupe raises the bar yet again."

Jaguar released few details about the coming all-aluminum coupe beyond the photo. The convertible is offered in three flavors: two with supercharged, 3.0-liter V6s and a top-of-the-line supercharged, 5.0-liter V8, with starting prices ranging from about $70,000 to about $90,000.

They're making a coupe of the F-Type? I just lost a little semen in my pants just thinking about that.

That was always in the plan.

I hope they can cut some weight from the convertible for it.

I would rather have the roadster.
I think coups always look better the convertibles. The BMW Z3 would be just about the only exception I can think of.

Needs more side-hinged rear door.

At least the prototype had one.

Not sure if that will see production.

According to the articles I've read, the side hinged hatch from the concept did not make production.

If the used prices drop like a rock, and I'm sure being a Jaguar they would this could be a car I'd think about one day as my toy car.

I wonder how this will stack up vs a C7.  Unfortunately I don't think I'll ever get to test drive the two

Good point, Jags have about the worst depreciation of any car. This should be a great buy in 5-7 years.

This is absolutely gorgeous. My only questions... price, and curb weight. I think I would still rather get a Carrera S, but not so much over a Cayman S....

It's a hot car, too bad it doesn't come with a proper transmission.

Automatic only.
I looked it up...an eight-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift mode...not too shabby.  There was a time when manuals were more efficient, and quicker, than automatics.  I don't believe that's the case now.  I like manuals, but for nostalgic reasons only.

Cars at this level of performance are better with manumatics. Hell there are times I wish my car had a manumatic. The 1-2 shift is glacial. If it's programmed right and has a clutch instead of slush an auto can be more than adequate.

Yeah it looks like driving a stick will be a lost art sooner or later.  It's pretty much almost extinct in trucks and it's now hard to even find it in an economy car.

As pretty as it is, I think I like the soft top more. The coupe IMO looks a little stumpy.

I anticipate spending a LOT of time on the Jaguar stand at the LA Show on Friday........ I will try not to drool too much, but it's going to be hard not to.

Stunning......... and £4000 cheaper than the convertible, model for model.
