Wheel spacers?

My 17" rear winter wheels aren't flush with the fenders. Any good rules of thumb for selecting the right size of spacer? Is it the type of part that I'd have to order online?

Do they interfere with the VSC/etc. electronic nannies?

I would just ride it out until you need new winter tires, then maybe get some aftermarket rims for winter with lower offset.

Not generally a good idea.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

You probably want your winter tires set in under the fender a bit anyway.  Helps keep the outside of the car cleaner in winter slop.

Why?

Okay, its also usually something you can get away with.

But, spacing that rear wheel out increases the torque placed on the suspension members, making breakage more likely. The spacers themselves often seem prone to problems too. On front wheels, they can cause all kinds of bump steer issues.

I'd just leave it for the winter.

People love em on Gs and Zs. Plus I am sure dude's 17s are way nicer on his suspension than the stock 19s. I say get em. People like 25mms on Gs/Zs

Yeah, the 19s are far heavier.

MX raises a good point about cleanliness though.

Soup: this would be for the rear wheels only.

The suspension isn't holding up the wheels, its holding up the car.

25 mm spacers...? That'd mean new studs and then he can't switch back to his other wheels.

No new studs, the deeper ones are flush.

  What?  I'm not picking up what you're saying.

The wheels are offset 25 mm from stock.  The lugs now have 25 mm less thread engagement.  That's likely too little and would require new, longer studs.

Overall, I'm not in favor of using spacers.  It can be done in a pinch, but it's best to avoid it and just get the proper offset to begin with.  I'm running 3mm spacers on the BRZ just to clear the front struts, but I should be getting rid of them once I get the coilovers on.

Sorry, a pic says a thousand words. The deeper spacers come with a second set of studs.
