Looks kind of nice. Hopefully it doesn't just have a 268HP 3.5L V6 with a 15 speed paddle shifter on a CVT. Toyota's new CEO is supposed to be bringing back the enthusiasm.

I think this is truly ghastly..... a diabolical mish-mash of bit of styling features from all sorts of cars.  Absolutely no cohesion to the design. It's as if the ricers have been at it in the styling studio.

Complete and utter fail.

Of course you do

Good profile, but the front end and interior are not doing it for me.

I'm with you. From the side it looks great but I'm not sure about that nose. Granted the production version won't look anything like this anyway.

Looks like an FR-S and a GT-R had a weird baby with an LF-A.  That's a lot of hyphens to go into one car.

That said, it looks decent and I see potential once it's toned down for a production car.

I'd still prefer an actual Supra, in gray, with the sport roof and no spoiler. Stickshift of course, turbo optional.

RC-F and now the FT-1... Has Toyota just started a complete 180 degree turn away from being a boring appliance maker

I like where they are headed.

This may appeal to some but to me it's overkill.  A bunch of styling queues from the '50s through present from various manufacturers hacked together to make an eyesore.

I'm seeing a lot of sci-fi anime influence there, not much from the fifties.

It may be overkill, but I'm starting to prefer that to boring.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

I was thinking of the taillights.  I don't dispute how others view it but it does look like George Barris might've had a hand in the design.

I dont think the turbo is optional in such a fat car - not when you can go from 220 to 700 hp with just a few bolt ons.

220hp and 3200 pounds.  It won't be blazing quick, but it doesn't really need to be.  Turbo weighs 3500 pounds.

If they build it this car will end up like all of the other Japanese sports cars.  They will sell it for a few years, make no changes at all to it, end production, and wait about 10 years before they make another sports car.

220 hp? Lol. Pass.

They were talking about the last, non-turbo Supra.

No power specs were given for this concept, though I would expect it would get at least the 3.5L V6 (300+ hp) if not the 5.0L V8 from the IS-F.

So if you like it you can have a great car that not many people have and you enjoy it. And when you walk out into a parking lot you won't see 10 other versions of your car like you would with a Mustang or Corvette. I don't see the problem with that.

Mustangfan2003

Atleast the Corvette and Mustang are kept up to date.  You look at the RX8, the S2000, and the last NSX and they all stayed pretty much unchanged.

The Corvette has had some pretty long model cycles.  The C6 went 9 years with minimal changes, and that's not the longest-lived generation Corvette.

yeah, they stayed awesome!

No really, up to date? I'd argue most of them where out of date before they came out.

This is probably a preview of the car that will be born of the shared sports-car platform Toyota is developing with BMW.

No, the only reason this 220 hp figure is floating around this thread is because someone mentioned the old N/A MkIV Supra

I thought the original Supra had 280-300-hp?
