Today's shoot: 2014 Volkswagen Golf GTI / Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line

Sweet! Got contacted by a Volkswagen dealer in Munich to shoot the new Golf GTI 5-Door for them (along with an older Tiguan R-Line). I'll even get to drive it. Awesome.

Can't wait to try out the Golf GTI. I really love the looks of that thing.

Business is doing ok. I'm doing a lot of smaller, non-automotive projects so I'm surviving. Most private clients are generally not worth pursuing since the people with the nicest cars are also the most stingy.

This year I am hoping to establish business locations with Lotus of Munich, as they have no official photographer in Bavaria. I am also applying at Octane Magazine Munich once I get my newest photos up online. Wish me luck!

I do have some interesting projects scheduled for this year: Citroen DS5, Porsche 912, possible BMW Z8 shoot (still waiting for confirmation), Porsche 997 GT3, 1967 Ford Mustang 289 vs 1968 Dodge Charger R/T and much more.

Yes. I didn't get to drive the GTI (brand new car), but I did drive the Tiguan, which was a 1.4 TFSI with 150-horsepower and a manual transmission (FWD). Not bad, but the shifter was very rubbery.

GTI looks great, but isn't it a little too powerful? Couldn't they have gotten a like a 1.2L eco diesel version?

Just for you they're making a 1.2 TSI with 86-horsepower!

The base diesel is a 1.6 TDI with 105-horsepower.

The GTI driver did complain about torque steer, though. 230-horsepower and 350 Nm of torque are quite a lot for a FWD car.
