The Viper is officially irrelevant

As a Viper fan, it pains me greatly. But the 650 hp Vette Z06 starting at $78,995?  :golfclap:

Performance I'm sure will be awesome as is value ... The styling of the C7 really isn't growing on me, however.

The guy that paid $120,000 for his Corvette C6 ZR-1 just killed himself.

The Viper will continue to have so much more exclusivity....though of course some of that exclusivity will be people saying "meh."

Seen a few in the flesh now (Stingrays). A Ferrari badge wouldn't look out of place on it. Fantastic looking cars.

The overall shape and the profile are fantastic IMO, and agree it is up there w/ the best. The details, the plasticky bits, vents, and rear end are too busy and cheap looking, and ruins the overall look IMO.

Was on the fence with the rear, but seeing it in person I think it looks great.

I disagree that the new Vette could have a Ferrari badge.  The shape is still quintessential Vette. The details are all that separate it from the C6 and the details are all plasticky and cheap looking.

In Mexico this will be so close in pricing to an M4 that it won't even be a contest.

Disagree. In fact the details up close are not cheap looking at all.

By that, do you mean to say no one would buy the M4?

The Corvette still has some blue-collar stigma here but I'd get the Vette. The only thing the M3 and M4 have going for them at the prices they have here is practicality.

For reference a loaded Stingray here is less than 1 million pesos. The M3/4 are 1.4 million. So my guess is they will be about even with the Z06.

The difference in quality isn't lost on me, but the Vette and Ferrari are close in bhp and performance. The Corvette is lightyears beyond in reliability (ever see a 200,000 mile Ferrari that hasn't had multiple power train replacements)?

Nutty maybe, but stylistically this could easily be a Corvette...

And again, stylistically, the C7 could easily be a Ferrari.

I have never seen a Ferrari with 200,000 miles on it. I've never seen a Ferrari that rolled over 100,000 km, let alone 200,000 miles.

I think it's the same on this side of the border too holmes

Very different markets

If I could do the 2 seater thing I would go with the Vette (if the Cayman/Boxster GTS weren't an option)

If I wanted another 2 door, I'd get a C7 over an M4 as well.

Switching to an M3 for me is mainly about space and practicality, wanted something bigger this time.  I wouldn't seriously consider an M4.

That said the C7 I sat in in Detroit felt really small inside. Noticeably more cramped than my C6.

CALL_911

The cayman/boxster gts would prob sway me away from the C7 however.

Who knows

The interior is much improved. But it hasn't grown on me either. As a matter of fact I think it's damn ugly from the front and back.

Payman

Throw in this though, and the decision will be easy...

I think it looks better in the flesh than in the pictures.  That's from the front and sides.  I still don't like the Camaro inspired rear end view.

Maybe the cars would get more respect from nonCorvette fans if GM could magically remove any GM and Chevrolet reference and add about $50,000 to the sticker.

Corvettes depreciate only down to a certain plateau. C3's and early C4's in good condition are $8-15k. C5's are high teens/low 20's, C6's are mid-20's and upward. A nice C6 can be had for the price of a new Accord.

SVT666

In the $60K range, I would go GT500.
