A new 911 variant: the Carrera T. I'd love to get one so it's now officially my "aspirational somewhat realistic" Porsche.

Basically a base Carrera with a few choice driver-focused options included.

Sounds like a nice variant, wouldn't mind owning something like that at some point.

The difference is so minor, I can't believe they made a whole new trim level for it.  The weight savings are almost negligible.  Just make rear seat delete and pull straps options.

It's very similar to the GTS trims up in the range. You can build an S into a GTS with just options. But they bundle them and add minor differences. The key IMO is that this strategy is good for Porsche byt also for the buyer - because resale on this T will probably justify getting it over a base Carrera with similar options.

Is there a price difference between the T and the Carrera with options? If there isn't, there really isn't any upside for Porsche...

So based on what I've read, you essentially get $5k in sporty options (seats, PASM, etc), you pay $11k more, and it loses 11 lbs...

Yeah, not worth it.  Essentially it's $6k for 11 lbs gone.

Yeah, not worth it.  Essentially it's $6k for 11 lbs gone.

You also get a shorter final drive ratio and lighter rear and side glass (unavailable as base carrera options).

As an option on this you can get the 4 wheel steer also unavailable in the base car.

Did you countthe price of the 20 inch Carrera S wheels that come included in the T?

It's reasonably priced for the addee content and exclusivity IMO.

Was just searching for winter tires. The Michelin Alpin5 has an interesting thread pattern, very different to all other tires. Seems to work as it gets rated quite well in review.

Based on the snow flakes on the sidewall I'd guess winter/snow tires.

Didn't notice.  Just the tread didn't seem deep enough for snows.

Eye-balling it, I'm guessing that tread is ~12/32, which is typical of snow tires.  And all of that fine siping is definitely characteristic of a snow and ice tire.

Speaking of that, my dad is gonna switch to BFG Comp 2 summers. The Rivals wear too fast for his use - he drives to all the shows/races and they're not roadtrip tires. He's eaten through almost 2 sets this year and they're $300 each

Pretty sweet. But you need to get in on that PDK lyf, and launch control at every stoplight.

Seriously all my cars are on PSS tires and I love'em. A stab of the throttle easily "exploits" all this grip in a roundabout.
