I think GM made the right play in ditching the LT5. It was a cool engine, but the SBC is just too damn good. They haven't even fully teched it out yet (hot V turbo)

Apparently not.  The LT5 was, essentially, a Lotus designed engine; when GM owned Lotus.

Pretty sure that's going to be DOHC.

In other news, I didn't know the Prius's reverse is electric only.

Oh yeah! There is no actual "reverse" gear either, just the ring gears turning in reverse while the planet gears stand still.

Try this, it's fun:

Dude has no charisma but he does a good job of conveying just how tyte that unit is. A variety of very different operating modes can be effected via simple input variations using the same basic three parts. "Perfection is achieved when there is nothing left to take away."

Are there any videos of the ID R Pikes Peak run with actual original audio? Everything I'm finding has douchey music or voice overs. The car sounds like a banshee, why do they cover it up?

Yeah, also early models had issues reversing uphill. Some SF bay area drivers had issues trying to parallel park.

It is a lovely thing is it not? It is nice to see a modern car with the front dropping down. Obviously mid/rear engine is the way to go in this pedestrian impact era. Someone needs to make a modern interpretation of the Tatra T77. Or how about a modern Toyota Previa?

Same way as every other hot v engine. Put the intakes on the outside, use a shit load of insulation

According to the article, it was assembled/built by Mercury Marine.  It was a Lotus/GM design.

Does intake air not already come Frome inside of the V and exhaust go out the outside?  It's not like a pooprod I6 where intake and exhaust manifold are on the same side of the engine/cylinder bank.

What I meant to say was, especially with e 2 valve head owuldnt it be just as "simple" as flipping the sides the intake/exhaust ports are on the head.

Edit just re-read your post, but not quite sure if you're asking about the orientation of a hot v engine?  If so then intake ports are on the outside of the V, and exhaust ports/turbos are on the inside.  Basically like a 60s Ford Indy v8

With the turbo it will be a hot head

Another good thing is they can probably just use 1 turbo... like a quadruple scroll lol.

I think they used music to cover the fact that regulations required it to sound like an ambulance.

If I was designing an electric car and had to give it artificial sound, I think I would try and give it the sound of a TIE fighter from the original Star Wars movies.  :praise:
