The thing with aircraft radials is, if they're not leaking oil, that means they're out, so add some fast.  ;)

They just turned up the wick a bit, to 1600 horsepower.

It's like an even uglier Ford Flex with minivan doors.

Which sounds like a perfect idea when you say it like that.

i do not quite understand why both were such a sales flop. I guess anything with sliding doors is a sales killer, even if actually a good idea.

Why don't consumers like sliding doors though?

They are ugly and cheap

I don't think it would take much to make sliding doors cool. Put them on a Lamborghini or Tesla or something and the industry would follow suit.

The only thing I'm not sure about is crash safety. Not sure if a sliding door would be harder to open than a regular door after an impact.

The Accord seats continue to give me back issues, but so is my mattress, and that's a lot easier to fix so I'm trying that first

I love the idea of a new Outback, but at the depreciation rate the Accord is on, it's still the best value.  There's nothing that can touch is in the $21k-$24k range for daily commuting.  I can't justify $10k-$15k more to sit higher, get AWD, and more comfortable seats.

Remember Gordon Murray talked about something called the T.43?  It was supposed to be 1700 lbs, 220 hp 3-cylinder and a feasible price.  Never heard anything about it in months now.

Maybe it was the trim level I had, but I don't recall the seats on the Outback rental I had last month to be outstandingly comfortable.  They weren't uncomfortable, but they didn't leave any kind of impression.  A bit better than the Elantra I rented a week later and made the same 6.5 hour drive in, but I would attribute that more to just having a finer adjustment range in the power Subie seats vs totally manual Hyundai seats.

I'll take OK over what I have now.  The Accord's are especially bad.  Looked online.  There are at least a fair number of people who agree with me.  They don't seem to fit some people at all.

I might test drive a new Mazda3 hatchback.  They're going for $27k fully loaded.  Wouldn't be nearly as painful of a hit as a $35k Outback.

I'd take a 3.6 Outback without a CVT. Good doge car.

Outback XT with manual would be perfect, but alas.  Not allowed by the Subaru overlords.

Same with a 2.5T Mazda3 w/AWD and stick.
