Got this one for $40. Seems like a good basic setup. Rear camera would be nice but I wasn't sure about routing the power wire. After installing this one, I realize it probably wouldn't be too bad

Nice. Just check it once in a while to make sure it's still working. Never know when they might lock up on ya...it happens even with the more expensive ones.

The rear camera on mine is just one cord from the main unit for power/video to the rear camera. Just ran it under da door sills and such and nobody knows it's there.  But having at least a front-facing and audio is better than nothing, for sure.

Taco has constant power to its 12V outlets, so mine runs 24/7. In the A4, it only ran when the vehicle was on, basically, because the internal battery wasn't much.

CaminoRacer

Yeah mine only runs when the car is on. 24/7 would be nice since I park on the street, but the Bolt's 12v battery is somewhat of a weakness since it doesn't have an alternator charging it all the time, so not worth the risk of not being able to turn the car on in the morning.

(The 12v runs the screens and interior lights. And is needed to flip on the big main battery to turn the car on. The big battery will charge the 12v but not as often as an alternator on a normal car that constantly charges the battery whenever the car is on)

Is there a Hard Wire kit for it? I think I might grab one of these myself.

Any dashcam hardwire kit that plugs into micro-usb should work.

From my quick googling last night, looks like some guys like to tap into the fuse box. Like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FXJD8W1/ref=psdc_3248689011_t2_B07V3BLNZ2

Ahhhh interesting.

When I went to the Galapagos last winter, I forgot to unplug my dash cam while Taco sat nice and warm in the shop for the 12 days or whatever I was gone for.  Sure enough, that was enough time for the dashcam to drain the battery...

AutobahnSHO

OBDII bluetooth reader in Scrappy was fine but in Impreza it drained the battery in 2days.

Why such a high hood?  What the hell do they have under there, a steam engine?

All trucks these days seem needlessly tall. I don't get it, either. I imagine there's *some* reasoning behind it (increased ground clearance, bigger engines, etc), but....

GM altogether seems to not put a lot of thought into driver visibility on any of its products, and that's not just trucks like this; Camaro, Acadia, even to some extent the small cars seem to suffer from poor outward
visibility compared to others.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

At least it has decent suspension, double wishbone rear and MacPherson strut up front.

This is what I see when I look at that truck:

You'd have to pay me to drive something like that.  A significant amount.

I like the red truck a lot better. A lot.

And if I met that guy on foot, miles away from any truck, and had to guess what he drove, I would not be off by more than a model year and a paint color.
