Oh yeah, not dangerous at all.  *sarcasm*
Early 911s had the following problematic combination

- significant rear weight bias
- weak/improper rear suspension geometry/wheel location
- short wheelbase
- skinny rear tires

The OG 911 had 175 width tires in the back. If its of any relevance my motorcycle has a 160 width tire literally carrying about half the weight. You load up that rear tire with the gas, get scared and lift off, when the front rebounds it will overload the rear tire and then you are on a one way trip to snap city.

Over time Porsche got hip... lengthened the wheelbase (though it stayed around ~99 inches for about 40 years), continually improved the rear suspension (making the big leap to rear multilink with the 993), and most importantly continually increased the width of the rear tires. Now a base 911 comes with 285s in the back, I think... maybe 325s? I have no idea but I know they flex big meat in the back and that's probably the biggest impediment to that old school snap. With all that weight on the back traction is glorious... damn near feels like an AWD car, at least in Forza 4. Unfortunately, understeers like one too. I'm still at a loss on how to set up the suspension on 911s.
