Ariel sand rail.  Sweet.

I'm guessing still RWD, or will they find a way to shoehorn 4WD into it?

Impossible. You could build one in your backyard for that, but there's too much engineering and not enough scale to spread the costs out in a commercial product.

Id be happy with something 25 to 30k, which should be easily doable.

There's no reason or justification for it to cost more than that. I doubt there's any market for it above 25k.

Im talking about a track car. Surely this thing can't be more than 25k.

I don't get the complaint about 4wd. It's more of a desert buggy than a rock crawler.

Rupert

How silly.

But so is the Atom, and that gets a pass, so I guess this does, too.

I hope they do a 4WD version, but even in 2WD this thing is awesome.

QuoteThis wacky buggy is powered by a Honda engine, the same type of engine that the Atom uses, putting out 235 hp. The claimed 0-60 time is 3.5 seconds, while top speed (due to the tires) is limited to 136 mph. And the Nomad is also the first ever Ariel that can come with a roof (along with doors and even a windscreen)!

"The on-the-road cost will be around £33,000 in the UK, including taxes, but owners can spec optional windscreens, wipers, sides and a roof - making this the first fully enclosed Ariel the company has made.

'It's a bit of a moment for us," admitted Siebert-Saunders. 'It will be the first Ariel that has a roof and doors!"

33,000 pounds, what's that... $50,000?

UK pricing isn't 1:1.  Seems like with current tax and exchange rates, it translates to roughly 1 pound to a dollar.  For instance, a $34k Mustang costs about 33k-35k pounds.

Not sure what federalization costs will do, unless they market it for offroad use only.  I would guess somewhere around 40k USD.
