My first fast car was '91 Dodge Spirit R/T with a 160hp turbo 4. That was a hand-me-down from dad.

First car I bought with my own money was a '96 Plymouth Breeze. So yeah.

After the Breeze I got a used '94 E36 325is. (Dad by then had moved to work at the first BMW dealer in Mexico). After that it was all over for my Mopar love.

A Plymouth Breeze. Yeah, that would end any MOPAR enthusiasm very swiftly.

The Spirit R/Ts were pretty rare up here; did many of them make their way south?
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

They were all built in Mexico, so at some point all of them were down south.

Also, his R/T was not the same R/T the US and Canada got.  The US/Canadian model had ~224 hp, not 160.  Mexico got two different R/Ts.  One was the model the rest of North America got, the other got the 160 hp 2.5L SOHC turbo.

Well, that clears that up then.

That is correct. Mine had the 160hp engine and a 3 speed auto. Dad had one of the good ones though with the 225hp engine and a proper manual. That one was seriously fast. It was faster at our altitude than contemporary Corvettes.

We also got in Mexico a "Phantom" with the good, 225hp engine and a manual. That was fantastic:

A Plymouth Breeze. Yeah, that would end any MOPAR enthusiasm very swiftly.

I liked that car. It had a nice manual and the SOHC 16 valve engine. I got some RIMZ and good tires for it and it handled very very well. It however had a nagging problem that was never really fixed where at high speeds (95+ MPH) the engine would sometimes "cough" and lose power. It was very angering.

It was more the bimmer being so good than the Breeze being bad. I still have a soft spot for mopar rides like the 300C or of course, the Hellcat.

Here the Breeze was a Chrysler. Not a bad looking car, great space and solidly built. Yeah, really.

Oh good. The manual 4cyl is probably the only tolerable power train for that car.
I have the same lack of power problem in my Accent over 95 mph, but it isn't intermittent. Not sure how to fix

That's a very interesting transition, Hector. From Chrysler K-Cars to the Ultimate Driving Machine.  :mrcool:
