I hope dummy driver got a fine.

  Not sure what actually went on initially but both sides are idiots.  The entire conflict could've been avoided if the driver would've complied in the first place and asked the question while he was complying.  At least from the video, they were intentionally being difficult.

The officer could have potentially avoided escalating the conflict if he had simply told the driver why he was being pulled over.  At the same time, I agree the driver is an idiot for not following the officer's instructions.  And while I can understand why the driver is being asked to produce a licence, I see no reason why the other passengers in the car are being asked for ID.  They aren't operating the vehicle and haven't broken any laws.

A lot of this reeks of a police state run amok.

I like how to cop was trying to pull him out of the car by his head until another officer showed up.

How are both sides idiots? The driver was refusing to comply with a lawful order by not providing identification, despite being repeatedly asked for it and warned that he would be arrested if he didn't do so. All he had to do was provide his ID and I have no doubt that the officer would have explained the reason for the stop and dealt with whatever the issue was. The video obviously didn't show the initial stop or contact with the officer, only starting at the point where the officer had clearly already asked for and been refused identification by the driver.

LOL look at the comments. These LEO bait videos serve nothing other than set race relations back. Sad. There's a lot more to life.

It's never smart to argue with a law enforcement officer. Or ask too many questions.

Happens every day in this country. He could have disengaged and waited for his backup to arrive, but at that point the officer didn't have any means of identification for the suspect if he decided to flee. And you can also argue that he was really only engaging one subject...the other three gentlemen were being cooperative. That's not to say that they couldn't have turned on him, but there are certain calculated risks you have to take in LE...it's a job that requires individual action in circumstances where others may not always find it particularly wise.

I didn't take Nomis' comment as a tactical criticism, though. I took it as a behavioral one and was wondering why.

So you agree that pulling a man out by his head is a good tactic?

I think the whole thing of trying to pull the guy out of the car became a joke.  It wasn't really like he was resisting or anything, it could've been done in a better way than the way it went down.. especially considering the driver was still belted in the whole time..

You guys ever try to pull someone out of a car who doesn't want to come out and is resisting? It's not as easy as it looks. I suppose the officer could have hosed down the entire car interior with OC spray, including the three guys who were cooperating... Oh, and it appears the the seatbelt is around his left arm, not buckled.

The only thing the officer did wrong was not immediately escalate his force use.  There is no reason whatsoever for him to remain hands on at that point, and he had USSC case law supporting the use of pepper spray or taser or both. Why he was screwing around with it I do not understand, as soon as the driver put his hands on the officer he should have gone directly to hard non~lethal.

I am so glad that PPCT is being taught out of LE and the new standard fighting techniques are being taught.

And, there is absolutely nothing wrong with asking to see everybody's ID, it's good police work and not some liberal PC bullshit police state nonsense.

Pussyfooting around like this and not properly escalating use of force is not very good example making for a Sgt.

It is when they've been pepper sprayed. :)

I never had much trouble, and this is one reason I wish they'd bring Do-Rights back.  They make taking someone out of a car very easy.

Umm, it's EXACTLY like he was resisting.  It was exactly like a textbook case of resisting.  No part of the confrontation was NOT resisting.

Most police officers in America are alone on traffic stops unless a known threat exists prior to the stop, and most arrests are made while solo.
