The Perfect Car

SVT666

What is your perfect car? The perfect car is not the car that is perfect for you, or perfect all around car, or even perfect for most people.  The perfect car is the car that you wouldn't change a thing on.  Not the styling, not the transmission, not the power...nothing. You wouldn't change a thing. You would buy it just the way it is and you wouldn't want a single thing to be different.

SVT666

My perfect cars of all time are the McLaren F1, Porsche Cayman GT4, and the 2005 Ford GT.

I look at a perfect car as something that can "do it all" well. I think that title has gone to the M3 for quite some time now.

Wouldn't change a thing on it.

The M3 is close, but for me there are still some small things I would change.  The car is too big now and I would tone down the styling of the bumpers.

I was more fond of the E90, but the F80 is an objectively better car

Tough question. Perfection is for God only.

As others have said, closest to perfection single, do it all car would go to the M3. Either the E90 or F80 generations fit the bill. E90 is lacking in interior quality, F80 ever so slightly in throttle response and the mythical "steering feel" nonsense.

Of the cars I've owned, however, and for my priorities, as a fun car - the 1M trumps all. It is a fucking riot. However, not perfect - engine is too quiet and also lacking a smallish bit of throttle response. The E46 was perfect for me when I got it new - today it does show its age. The M5 is the perfect long distance bullet train, but I'd get bored with it if it was my only car.

Of cars I've had the fortune to drive, I wouldn't change a single thing on the 997 GT3, on any of the Ferraris or on the Elise. All memorable.

Like I said in the OP, your "perfect car" is the car you wouldn't change a thing on.  If the F80 is too big, it doesn't matter if it's better.  The size is something you would change.

I think I'm the only one who did this right.

Gotcha. I didn't read your original post. This is a much tougher question, I'll have to get back to you...

So did I, I just had to go big in order to find something that I wouldn't customize.

FoMoJo's answer would also work for me.

What's wrong with what SVT and I picked?

FWIW the Elise is a good choice but I've always been scared of that bonded aluminum chassis and the fact that pretty much any fender bender can total the car. That alone would keep me from wanting it and keeps it from being a perfect car to me.

2005. The new one is stunning, but given a choice, I'd choose the old fart.

As much as I love Corvettes I have to vote 911 Turbo for one "Do It All" car.

Read the OP.  It's not a "do it all" car.
