Holy shit it looks good in white:

Never been a fan of red myself, so yes I agree it definitely looks better in white.

If its 90k, it is pointless. But you might be right.

But FCA has said the car is as 3kg/hp, which means it should be somewhere around 1530 kgs, or 3373 lbs. Even if they are being generous, I would guess the realistic "wet" weight would be around 3500-3600 lbs.

WOW. It also has wishbones on all 4 corners and torque vectoring AWD.

Torque vectoring rear diff, not AWD.

Pretty sure this is correct. Also pretty sure the ~3370lb weight will be for the RWD model, which IMHO will be the most fun model.

Italians love dry weight. Dry weight discounts any metal in the car that took on a liquid form during the refining/manufacturing process

They use the same tricks for bikes. "Dry weight" is supposed to be the car w/o fluids, but it always winds up being way lower than that. And you never get a true sense of the thing's weight until someone actually goes out and weighs it.

My bad. Still pretty amazing if it is indeed under 3400 lbs.

I think I'd want in in white (I never say that for ANY car) with the clover appliqués.

I read on car and driver that the wagon may not happen. Strange since Europe is big on wagons.

I still think it's odd looking, and the only people that like it seem to be on the internet.

I can't picture it's beating the F30

12,000 RPM

Nothing will beat the 3 series, at least in sales and benchmarkedness. It created and led the segment.

True, same with the Accord. But it's nice to have real alternatives.

Yes but nothing from its class replaced it

I still think the only issue with the F30 non Ms is suspension tuning. That is very easily remedied compared to the issues of its competitors

Really?  You slammed Cadillac for entering this market and competing directly with the Germans, but it's okay for Alfa?

A bit too confident. Segment leaders have been known to eventually lose it. E.g. the Mopar minivans.

The 3 series has a substantial lead, but it's market share overall can only go lower IMO with so many alternatives. I suppose in part that is what drives BMW to create all the variants of it (GT, 4, 4GC, etc) that really don't cost that much more to manufacture. Defending its turf by specializing the offerings more and more.

Caddy's German fighters offer next to no reason to be chosen as alternatives, aside from contrarianism. Im not alone or wrong in this thinking either.... sales are way off the mark and average transaction price on the ATS/CTS is below invoice

This thing deserves to exist, IMO, for one simple reason.... it's dripping with style and sex appeal. That is something painfully, excruciatingly lacking in this segment. Closest thing to a good looking car in this segment is the C Class, and maybe the Q50. This on the other hand looks good in and out, and even has a real name, in sharp contrast to the slab sides, jarring mixture of textures and meaningless alphanumeric soup Caddy is offering. There is a clear contrast between this and its competitors, and it offers something people want that its competitors don't.
