My senile 93 year old grandfather passed a driving test a year ago or so. Mostly it makes me question how effective the test is in North Carolina...

Watched 30s and started cursing uncontrollably....

My Grandpa is 86, still passed whatever driving test he had to do last year.... The front right lower control arm of his Accord tends to disagree with those results... He is very jerky with all his motions and constantly complains about the tires squealing on take off... Um, the car will peel into 2nd gear, it has a fair bit of power, so if you use 3/4 of it off a light then a little squeal is a good possibility.

Someone needs to sell him a Golf R.  No more squealing tires.  It'd be funny to see his reaction to a 3/4 throttle take off in the "economy hatchback".

He's had other health issues that have forced him to cut back his driving. That and his personal alignment job seem to have been a bit of a wake up call.

He messed it up good, steer 25-35 degrees left to go straight with a really odd feel to it. I'm sure the stability control enjoyed that input data. Then he allowed my cousin to "fix" it despite my advice to just bite the bullet and dealer it. Last I heard it still doesn't track straight and my cousin is "not sure" if anything else is bent.

One day I am just going to go "borrow" the car and have it fixed once and for all.

Her Majesty drives an X-Type.  A much-maligned car has been vindicated!

Colleague of mine just got T-boned in a supermarket parking lot... some old lady in a daze who was zipping along at speed.

This brought to mind my mother-in-law, who's coming up to 87-years-old. She drives a BMW 128i convertible. Fabric roof, so terrible visibility, plus a high waistline, made even worse by her shrinking with old age; she can barely see over the steering wheel. She's always been a terrible driver, now she's dangerous. But I've a feeling it's going to take a serious accident before her license wil be revoked. I don't think she'd ever give it up voluntarily.
