They really cheapened [the exterior] for the US. Actually what the US is getting is the Vito, which is the commercial [cheaper] version of the V-Class.

You mean assembled in USA from PKD (partially knocked-down) kits shipped in from Germany.

The cargo version of the Metris really has no direct competition in North America.  It's a mid-sized van that is considerably bigger than the Transit Connect and the like, but smaller than the Sprinter, Big Transit, etc.  Ford's equivalent of the Metris is the Transit Custom.
