Here is the only problem with buying a $12,000 car. It needs $1000 in wheels+tires, and $900 in suspensions, then another $400 in tires for the track. Then it is a race car.

I like this idea way more than I should

Rear drum brakes.

Now how do you like it?
Not that it matters much for autocross.

Autocross season starts in February. There are some nice venues, such as Darlington Raceway, Michelin Proving Grounds, and Roebling Road. I never had the chance to complete an entire season before. Now I think I can do it, with Versa under my butt. Aiming for STF, Street Touring Front class.

Need to pick a light wheel for daily street use ... (steelies will get the sticky tires)

To be wrapped in a modest high performance-ish, all-season-ish tire in the still fuel sipping 195/55-16 size.

Perhaps the Toyo Extensa HP

This is the original joke horn sitting next to the replacements.

Don't you have the wheel thing backwards? The new lightweights with the sticky tires are for special days.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Steelies with really sticky tires.
Lightweights with moderately sticky tires.
I'd rather enjoy the lightweight benefits every day, rather than once a month.

Kshift Knob Ktime ...

I got this 450 gram shiny ball on Amazon for less than $20.
It took some doing to install, but it was totally worth it.

The OE knob is just stuck on with some plastic sleeve that grabs the knurled top of the rod, so I had to cut threads on it. Luckily, the rod diameter is perfect to cut some M12 threads, which happens to be a common shift knob thread.

Once the knob was screwed on, the boot was still sticking up with a gaping hole. Since I prefer to feel the bare metal rod under my ball, I decided to shove the boot down, fold the hole over, and sew it tight around the rod with some black thread.

While the throws are still a bit long, the shifter now feels like it is attached to a real car. The inertia of the weighted knob on such a long lever completely eliminates the notchy feel.

Black absorbs light too, making them lighter still.

One would need to consider the mass of the absorbed photons versus the mass of the black paint.

And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high." - Ayrton Senna
