Ford selling autoparts for other makes

This directly affects my job. More business=more bucks for flat rate techs. Interestingly, many auto parts, even OEM's are made offshore these days. Fascinating to think how Trump's trade policies will change this. For all parts suppliers.

According to a couple of think tanks, Trump's proposed tariffs are likely to increase vehicle prices, reduce volume, and cost tens of thousands of US auto industry jobs.

The best thing to happen to the autoparts game is Amazon getting involved.  They're starting to make a big push towards it.  They're going to destroy Autozone/Oreily's/Pep Boys etc when they're fully launched.

I don't want to wait to get parts in the mail, for the most part. I like being able to go to Autozone and pick stuff up in 20 min and get back to wrenching. Big parts like sway bars, springs, heads, intake, etc. of course I'll order, but maintenance stuff is easiest in-store.

You're just saying that because you work on an old muscle car   Things are available for it at local stores.  Most of the stuff I end up special ordering anyways.  The stores are slower and more expensive than Amazon for me.

I would love for Amazon to carry more OEM things.  Stuff like transmission fluid, brakes, clips, interior pieces, etc.

No they won't

I still feel slightly uneasy about buying certain parts from Amazon.  Unless they list exact part numbers and reviews confirm its the real deal, I shy away from it. I trust Rock Auto or the local NAPA a lot more for car parts.

+1

I am always running to Autozone/O'Reilly for little bits and pieces or small tools when I'm in the middle of wrenching. I don't think they're going anywhere unless Amazon can do 20 minute deliveries for the same price as the parts store.

Yeah, my local O'Reilly was a godsend when I did Taco's brakes and it has come in handy for lots of other wrenching projects.  I can hop on my bicycle and go there and back in 10-15 minutes with whatever I need.

or rockauto

I love Rock Auto.  It basically is the Amazon of parts. Love the layout, too.  Amazon is too messy.

Props to Rockauto- they sent me the correct parts when ordering stuff for the old Chevy. Prices are reasonable. The parts lookup menu is better than other online parts places, too.

Have you looked at Summit Racing? That's my go-to for stuff I can't get at Autozone. Today I got new door weatherstripping less than 24 hours after I ordered them, without paying for 1/2 day shipping.
