You can do it with a thumb drive. The hardware can be left intact, if you're OK with the potential for battery drain - the regular USB ports don't provide much power.

I think the dealer can do it for $100.

You can buy the higher powered USB port for $155 I think.  The labor isn't that difficult.  Just do it yourself.

Also, in regards to Scat Packs...you can get them really cheap off lease now.  They weren't moving for awhile, and then they opened them up to FCA employees for company cars.  They can't get any SRT vehicles, so this was like a budget SRT-8 for cheap, so they ordered a TON of them.

I remember planning the shocks for that car.  I thought their system went haywire because the uptick was so massive.  Nope, just all employee orders coming through

Rented a very base model Nissan Frontier in Hawaii. I feel like a landscaper in it.

Nice. You should drive up to some crews and yell at them to work faster.

Does it still have the VQ?

It's exactly the same as it was in 2005 or so.

Nah I meant does the very base model have the VQ, but that was poorly written

It's a SV crew cab, so not very base, it turns out. Still feels chintzy. Oh well, it hauls dive gear like a champ.

Had an Elantra the last couple days. Still a perfectly cromulent transportation appliance, truly a Korean Corolla. The engine isn't particularly powerful and it needs a lot of "motivation" in highway passing manoeuvres. Handling is okay at city speeds but on the highway it felt a little "floaty" at higher speeds, particularly in corners which makes you feel very unsure about its limits. It felt like it was about to skip sideways. Comfortable enough interior with a fair amount of amenities.

I wouldn't buy one, but I can see why others might. It has great fuel economy and is a perfectly comfortable city runabout.

Being in Utah with wide-open roads, I feel like 180 hp is the lowest I'd want to go. Even in a small car.

Everyone in Utah should have at least 300 HP, or they will just hold up traffic.

Why? I'm guessing the flat parts are at low elevations. I had a little 70HP Fiat Panda doing 90 or so in Italy. Doesn't take much power to cruise

In Utah you can go 100 pretty easily. Speed limit is 80. Aero drag is substantial at those speeds.

90kph? Big numbers are less impressive in communist metric countries.

My Mazda6 with 160 hp could use a bit more oomph to get up to 70-80 mph on freeways in civilized areas, and it has to downshift into 3rd for some of the bigger freeway climbs when I drive to southern Utah.

180+ hp and a 6+ speed transmission would make it better.

My MIL's 90hp Captur maxes out at 160kph. Takes forever for the speed to climb after 110.

Also the flat parts here aren't necessarily low elevation. Most of the state is above 4,000 feet. The mean elevation is 6,100, which is the 3rd highest after Colorado and Wyoming.

So the new compacts with 150 turbocharged horsepower are probably better than the previous gens that had similar power but N/A.

Yeah, my 138HP car does great when I'm going thru the mountains. Gotta change gears, but it's all good.

LOL, "the flat parts" of Utah are still ~5,000 ft.

The drive I did in the rental Elantra went from ~2,000 ft to 4,000 ft, and back again. It was a crappy old two-lane road, speed limit of 100 km/h (62 mph), I had the cruise set to 109, and it did fine on the open road. Where it struggled was passing, like I said. Lots of truck traffic on that highway and not a lot of passing zones, so I had to make them count and had to drop to 3rd gear to get any oomph out of it. It was acceptable, it obviously worked okay because I'm still alive to type about it, but it wasn't ideal.

Fuel economy was really, really good though. 6.07 L/100 km, or 38.7 mpUSg.
