Don't you live in a rural area right now?  Or did you move back to NYC?

His area isn't exactly rural, just because there's a "Carolina" in the name.

Dude, that's a lot. Charlotte proper has like 53% of the population of Philadelphia, and the metro area is 40% of Philly metro area. .

In addition to the high heat created by torque braking you're talking about a lot of fluid pressure. There are plenty of horror stories out there if you're inclined to look for them. And any super-hard launch has the potential to cause premature wear'n'tear on the driveline.

Can you torque brake the car without damaging the tranny if you're smart about it, do it sparingly, and don't hold it for an extended period of time? Sure. Does it have the potential to damage the tranny if you do it too often or for too long. Of course.

Charlotte city proper is considerably more sprawled (over 2x the land area of Philly).

What's wrong with Philly other than being close to Camden?

What's so great about Charlotte?

I'm asking because I've been to the east coast like once and that was to D.C.

Northeast and "Southern" cities have a different feel to them entirely. Especially the rust belt cities from Philly to Chicago. They're just not for everybody, and have their own vibe.

Charlotte, Atlanta, and all are cities for people who don't really like cities. A bit cleaner, a bit less frantic.

Philly is probably my least favorite major city in the northeast (well maybe east coast). Other then a few (and I mean like 3) blocks around independence hall, the city is by and large just dirty and uninteresting.

NYC, Boston, DC, Baltimore are all way better.  Charlotte is a really nice town/city.

Philly is OK to visit. Lots of history, more culture/food. CLT is better to live. Cheaper, nicer weather, nicer roads, a road course 1 hr away etc.

FWIW there is a race track (two road courses, FWIW) in the town where I work. Its about an hour away from Philly (depending on which part of Philly you are coming from, maybe closer).

http://www.njmp.com/

At some point I have to actually get up the motivation to go there for an open track day. Its about a 15 minute drive from where I live (next town over).

While I am not defending Camden, you have to keep in mind it is a "city" in name only (IMHO). Its really small and not that many people live there (~80k people). I feel like it would be the equivalent of a bad neighborhood in a normal city. In this case the "nice parts" of the city are either across the river (Philly) or are the suburbs to the east (Cherry Hill, Haddonfield, etc...).
