Honda Urban EV concept

Love the retro design, hate the interior. If they kept it simple, with a 100 mile range and $18-20k price, I think they'd have a hit.

Design looks like something from a Pixar film.  Yet, its cartoonish-ness kinda works.  EV doesn't work for me, but if they offered a gas version, I'd actually be interested.

Unfortunate that it'll look nothing like that in production. No way they can get away with pillars and a roof that thin.

Where can urbanites charge these things? My Manhattan landlord would toss me out in a NY minute if I dropped a cord down to the street to park. And then there are the folks who live in high rises................................

This looks cool but these EV "autonomous" concepts are such a massive waste of time. Manufacturers need to work on how to make EVs viable.

Also not a fan of retro. It's overdone and lazy. Sorry if this post comes off giantmtbish.

"Overdone" is exactly what the current trend in hideous small cars is. Looking at you Honda and Toyota.

It's a different kind of overdone. Cars can look good without shamelessly drawing on the past.

This thing looks fantastic.  Drop the turbo 1L that Honda uses in Europe and this would probably be a riot too.

In the rear like the Twingo, with side flares/intakes like the R5.

Modern retros never look as good as the original.  The problem is, what new can you do with 4 wheels and a box?

EVs in the U.S. are for people with some disposable income, own their own house, have a closed garage, and also have at least one other non EV car.  This "niche" is rather large however.  I think a lot of what's driving the future of EV however is what's happening outside the U.S. in Western Europe and China.  They are forcing the adoption of EV.  China depends on foreign oil and they have big time air pollution problems in their large cities.  I think they have mandated that 8% of all vehicles sold in 2018 be electric and 12% by 2020.

A high revving, small 4 cylinder (like the old B series) and a manual would make this thing amazing.

I know that will never happen, though. Shame such a good looking concept will most likely be ruined on an EV car with shitty "toned down" production styling.

Nah, I'd take a B series over a VTEC VFR800 motor. Fuck checking valves on those things.

The CR-Z is depressing, because I love the look of it. Could have been a great CRX revival.

China also has the mineral resources needed to make batteries and electric motors instead of petroleum.  They are the leading supplier of lithium (batteries) as well as rare-earth magnets (like neodymium) frequently used in electric motors.
