Dakota had about 1/2 qt of mud in its rear end. No wonder it felt sluggish. Now cleaned up, and ready for 3 qts of Amsoil 80w-90.

Also changed transmission oil for 4 qts Amsoil 75w-90 GL-4. Old stuff was nasty, but not quite the brown mud that was in the rear end. Shifter is really snick-snick now! Between the transmission and the rear axle, I think having actual oil in them restored at least 10 HP.

I did all my diff fluidz a few years ago. It really did make a difference. Should probably do the rear diff again this summer.  That LSD puts in a lotta work in the winter.

My rear end was getting really hot because all it had in it was a handfull of mud. I was wondering why it felt like such a struggle at high speeds. It is much smoother now. Most people ignore rear end oil.

I think a beater C4 Corvette would be a good daily. Most of them are autotragics, too.

Yeah, but a 240D would also be sweet, and the tires are cheaper.

When did C4s get so expensive? I was hoping 3 grand for a running one, but more like 5+.

A 1st gen Lexus ES300, now that is a practical car, and cheap.

Okay

Dakota for dogs and hauling junk
ES300 for commuting and hauling people
Trade Fiesta for C5 Corvette, because I want

Nope, screw it.
Just Dakota. Sell everything else.

240D was the best idea so far, wasn't it?

I ran Dakota into the mountains and back, probably averaging 80 MPH, and 18 MPG over 300 miles. It didn't burn a drop of oil, and the temp gauge never moved from 180. It's like a diesel engine. It might be slow, but it doesn't care if you run it flat out all day.

Ranger's brake master cylinder was full of poop. I got a rebuild kit.

Plan #6:
Sell Ranger. Sell GMC. Sell Fiesta.
Keep Dakota. Buy 240D. Win.

Did you have a plan when you bought all those vehicles?

Yes, and my plans always go to shit.
GMC for working on LAND, but I can't afford to do that.
Fiesta was for commuting to Charlotte for a job that I didn't get.
Ranger was so cheap that I just had to get it and fix it. And then I could commute with it and sell Fiesta.
Dakota was for a job that I had for two weeks working on cell towers. Neither GMC nor Ranger would have been suitable for long distance material+tool hauling. Then we lost the next big contract and I lost the whole job.
Everything sucks.

I am so into getting a 240D that I ordered a repair manual for one. To study.

I'm sick from work with a 102° fever, but it's only 75 outside so far, so I decided to see if Ranger would start after sitting for two months. Took about 10 seconds of cranking, then boom. Purring like a baby tiger.

I got out the hose and diagnosed the water on the floor. Clogged cowl drains. Between that, and the master cylinder leak, le flour needs some werk.

Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?
