I saw an OG Maverick today. There's one is my town that I see every once in a while.

So, can I get a Maverick that isn't a hybrid but with AWD and an Emmanuel tranny?

No manual on the Maverick I don't think.  2.0T, AWD, 8-speed auto or hybrid.

Never mind. I don't like it, anymore. Silly electric knob shifter and parking brake. Giant TV screen. Price for AWD option is stupid high.

I bought the Jeep in January 2020 because I needed an automatic for my failing knee. I just got a referral to an orthopedic surgeon. Next available appointment January 2022. Two fucking years to get my knee looked at, and it has only gotten worse and worse. Thanks, VA.

Almost 34 now.  Had a lateral release done on my left knee in college.  It had a slight meniscus tear and the cartilage on the back of the knee cap was torn up from sliding out of place.  When I was around 25 or 26, I slipped while jumping off my right leg while playing basketball.  Knee shot inwards.  Ended up with a nasty bone bruise on my femur, stretched a bunch of ligaments, and a meniscus tear, but no surgery.  Everyone playing thought I tore my ACL for sure for how bad it looked.

Feels fine now unless I'm hiking or something and go downhill for an extended period of time.  Then I can feel it getting caught in the joint.  Really painful stuff, but it's rare.

My knees were bad in middle school and high school. I grew quickly so they had to catch up. And I was always playing sports and tweaking my knees and ankles. They're fine now, and I do my best to protect them. But hiking does bother them. My last big hike I had to stop at the "saddle" of the mountain instead of the true summit, because I knew I had to hike 7 miles back downhill and my knees were already bothering me. At least the saddle had a great view, basically the same as the summit

It seems counter intuitive, but squatting regularly makes my knees feel best.  Strong legs hold joints together better during activities

Yeah, leg day and exercise bike help the most for me. As long as I don't overdo it with weights.
I've been running more on the treadmill too, which is good to an extent. I don't do more than 2-3 miles. More than that and my legs start to hurt.

A runner friend of mine showed me how I jog down hills is wrong. Your knees take a lot of abuse when you put your feet far in front of your body. Your feet act like brakes and all of the stopping energy is propagated through your knees. It's better for your feet to connect closer to your body's centerline.

I did my graduate Biomechanical Engineering course project on running form!  Midfoot strike is so much better for you body.  The impulse from heel striking + dorsiflexion of the foot is really what causes shin splints.  The world would be much better off if instead of everyone running 5Ks, half marathons, and full marathons for fun, if everyone competed in 400m races by age group .  Everyone would learn to run properly instead of trying to wrap their feet in pillows and heel strike for hours.

I'm actually considering trading the Discovery Sport in for a Maverick.  Don't think my wife would be very happy about that though.

Personally, I'd rather have a new utility vehicle with a warranty than a 5 year old potentially high maintenance vehicle that may be on the verge of wearing something out...though it's been maintenance free so far, other than the usual service items.

Supposedly they're not even starting the hybrids until December. They should email us a VIN when they start and updates on when it finishes and ships.

My only worry is that we get to delivery time and the dealership tries to mark it up due to demand. My wife is a fighter though and won't be quiet in a showroom.

I've asked here to go in and have them sign the contract she signed- so it's "more" binding?

You should go watch the video that Gotta-Qik-C7 posted. The Maverick is NOT upscale, even with the upper trim packages. It's literally the cheapest vehicle Ford will be selling anymore, and I'm totally  loving that they emphasized functionality over anything poseur. It's NOT pretending to be more expensive than it is! I'm totally down with that. My wife is too!

Your wife would have to be happy with an "economy" truck.  :ohyeah:
