Emilia GT Veloce Is A $470k Restomod Powered By The New Alfa Giulia QV's Twin-Turbo V6

While the last 18 months have seen a radical shift towards electrification among the world's largest car manufacturers, it has also brought about a new and exciting era in restomods. Take the Emilia GT Veloce, for example.

The car is a modern-day interpretation of the iconic Alfa Romeo Giulia GT created by German classic and sports car specialist Emilia Auto and development partner VELA Performance. Previewed here through a series of detailed renderings, the Emilia GT Veloce will be officially unveiled in the second quarter of 2022 and will be capped at just 22 units worldwide, each priced from around €400,000 ($471,000).

Powering the GT Veloce is the same 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 as the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. This engine will be good for over 500 hp and 442 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque in the restomod and will be coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission from ZF that sends power through the rear wheels and can change gears in just 150 milliseconds.

Emilia Auto hasn't simply slotted in a new engine and called it a day. The car's underpinnings have been thoroughly upgraded and it now includes KW coilovers at all four corners, all-round independent suspension with double wishbones up front and a multi-link rear axle, and adaptive power steering. It also features Brembo brakes and offers modern-day ABS and traction control.

To create the car, Emilia Auto takes an original Alfa Romeo Giulia GT, comprehensively updates the bodywork and then marries it onto the new spaceframe and powertrain. Speaking of the design, it has been upgraded and includes flared arches, a bespoke hood to house the new engine, and more modern head- and taillights. There are also two centrally-exiting tailpipes and a curvaceous lip spoiler.

The German company has tried to keep the interior as original as possible but has fitted an improve ventilation system with automatic air conditioning, electric windows and mirrors, and a multimedia system. There are also new Recaro sports seats while customers will have a host of different materials to choose from.

1000X more true to the original, 1000X better. Chris Harris called it the best car he's ever driven.

That is a beautifully balanced sports coupe, and one of the loveliest designs.  It has the same engine and running gear as the Duetto Spider which was/is perfectly balanced.  I remember turning pirouettes in the snow with a small flick of the steering wheel with mine.

Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

No manual?

What's the point?

Probably because of the EU[SSR]'s draconian CO2 and emission standards. They only have a chance to fulfill them with an A/T.

In this kind of car, exactly. Overpowered 500 hp V6 and an automatic, talk about missing the point. Just buy an M8 and be done with it. The Alfaholics on the other hand did it right.
