BERLIN: Bicycles can now be parked in car parking spaces for free

Goes to show how retarded modern-day Germany is, especially cities run by the Socialists (SPD), Greens and the Communists - like Berlin.

This stupid ruling only serves to cause tension between cyclists and motorists. It also causes more traffic problems (and pollution) because motorists will be forced to drive around more looking for a free parking space. There's a statistic from a car club here which states that half of the traffic issues in German cities are caused by motorists driving around looking for a parking space. Instead, the Germans living in cities are so fucking dumb they vote for the Greens who are getting rid of parking spaces and thus creating more traffic issues.

Bicycles can now be parked in car parking spaces

In Berlin, bicycles should no longer block the sidewalks in the future.

There is excitement in the car nation of Germany. At least in the capital. From January 1st, bicycles in Berlin Velos can be parked free of charge in public car parks. Even if drivers had to pay a parking fee to park their car. The Senate wants to create free space on the pavements where pedestrians have to share space with parked bicycles, e-scooters and mopeds.

But the new rules are causing trouble. The German Automobile Club ADAC criticized the plan for the "Spiegel" to keep sidewalks free. However, this should not "be carried out on the backs of drivers without showing them solutions at the same time".

In addition, according to the report, many drivers fear that a single bicycle could then block an entire parking space. And that in a big city, where parking spaces are known to be scarce.

The problem would not be solved, but exacerbated

The Senate Chancellery made it clear via Twitter that bicycles "must be parked as space-savingly as possible", but the ADAC remains with its rejection. Motorists would now have to search even longer before they can park their car. The association also fears that more cars could be damaged by incorrect parking of bicycles and scooters.

In general, the Senate has promised to create space specifically for scooters, according to the ADAC. With this measure, the space problem will only be postponed, but not solved. The Berlin Senate is "more than ever obliged" to finally act here.

The overall goal of those in charge is to reduce the number of cars at any one time on the street in the big cities of Western Europe.  So this is just one of many rules that help accomplish that.  Less cars per given area in any densely populated area is going to have positive effects on the quality of life for those who don't drive a lot in the cities.  For those that do drive frequently, it sucks.

Yes, and this bothers me. In a supposed "free country" I decide how I want to travel. I love driving and prefer taking my car instead of the crap public transportation we have here.  ;)

This is a very repressive way of forcing people to stop taking their car. I hope people will stand up and fight these freedom- and car-hating eco communist assholes.
