I believe this was some sort of 1980s high-performance model, right?

Let me guess: a 3.8-l V6 with around 220-hp, FWD and 0-60 in about 7-8 seconds.  :P

170-180 hp. (I can't remember the exact figure, but somewhere in that general vicinity; the performance figure sounds about right, although it more than likely leans toward eight seconds. Probably 8.5ish)

In the early '90s they came out with an SSEi model, which featured a low-pressure supercharger. Boosted power to around 205hp, and eventually to 225ish I think. When it was redesigned in the late-'90s the supercharged V6 had 240hp and 0-60 times dropped under 7 seconds.

So it did have the 3.8-l V6? With an output as low as that, I am guessing this was a mid to late 1980s car?

Yeah, that Bonneville came out in 1987 and lasted until 1991. There was another generation from 1992-1999, and another from 2000-2005.

After a quick search, the naturally aspirated V6 was 170hp until 1995, when the Series II version debuted, rated at 205hp. The supercharged Series I was 225hp, and supercharged Series II was 240hp (debuted for 1996).

Those are awfully low power outputs for a supercharged motor, especially when the N/A version pumps out 205-hp: 20 less.

How much power did regular Bonneville's make? This isn't a small car, probably weighs something too.

The naturally aspirated V6 engine was the base engine. Base LE models had a simpler fuel injection system, and the engine was rated at 150hp. SE and SSEs had a better fuel injection system, and were rated at 165hp. The 165 hp version became the only engine in 1989, and lasted the rest of that generation. The 170 hp version debuted in 1992 (the first year of generation following the one pictured).

The (low-pressure) supercharger added a fair amount of power:

N/A Series I: 170hp
Supercharged Series I: 225hp
Difference: 55hp

N/A Series II: 205hp
Supercharged Series II: 240hp
Difference: 35hp

(N/A Series III: 197-205hp
Supercharged Series III: 260hp

The Series III is only available in the Buick Allure, Buick Lucerne and Pontiac Grand Prix. The supercharged Series III is only available in the Grand Prix GT. The 3.8L, which dates to 1964, has largely been replaced by newer 3.5 and 3.9L V6s)

They weighed 3200-3500 lbs, depending on options.

Informative post, thanks.  ;)

I wouldn't mind a Series 3 supercharged in a Toyota MR-2 Spider.

No, I want to buy a wrecked Pontiac and shove that engine into an MR-2.  Or get that much power into them in any way possible.

Talk about a 360 Modena killer.

I see. How about a more potent V6 or V8 engine? Like that V8 Miata...

Just for comparison the SHO 3.0L V6 (1989-1995) was n/a and 220hp.
Aftermarket s/c gets 300+hp, and turbos are 400+hp.  (Serious maintenance issues though..)

0-60mph in 6.5 and 1/4mile at 15.1.

By C&D standards, that's "so underpowered".
