Thanks, but car is gone shortly.  How similar is the motor in the next generation LegacY?

the Teuton

In terms of the 2.2 liter engine in the Legacy, it still shares a lot of parts.  If it's the 2.5 liter DOHC engine from 1997 Legacy GT and up, there are a lot of parts like the water pump that are interchangeable (that's actually the same as the EJ25 I have right now).  If you're going new school and getting the SOHC 2.5 liter car, then I can't help with anything really.  It's a different engine.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

Come on lady luck.  I'm trying to buy an EJ20 out of an '03 WRX right now.  Wish me luck because it's dirt cheap, relatively speaking.

2,650 lbs. + 227 hp - automatic transmission = still faster than your average Mustang.

My bad.  It was just the engine block from the EJ20 apparently.

I don't want to sound like an ass, but technically any engine Subaru has made in the EJ series will fit.  Some people have even shoved the H6s in Imprezas.  Oh well, though.  It wasn't a complete engine, so my plans are back on with getting the 2.5 swap done in January.

I just emailed the autobody teacher at my old high school to get a supplies quote for my car.  I'd like to get it painted and redone first semester and swapped at college second semester when I take it to school.

I'm going to buy some things tomorrow morning.  Here's a few pics of some of them.

Yes, they came from a 1998 2.5 RS and yes, that strut looks busted.  I'm not sure if I want that yet.

Those springs have queerily few coils.

That's a great local brewery that we have. Do I drink their beer? No.

Those are, in fact, what came on 2.5 RSs, though.

All of the struts are in good condition exteriorwise but one of the rears is a little weak and one of the fronts is blown.  I bought them today with some RS rear endlinks and the RS springs.  I'm going to replace the blown one unless there is a way to fix it.  I'm excited.  I can't wait to get my RS suspension onto my lovely, little wagon.  This will make it handle so much better, especially considering my whip weighs about 300 lbs. less than an RS.

As we speak, I have the whole driver's side front axle apart.  I'm waiting for some friends to show up with air tools, as it will make it so much easier.  This sucks right now.

BTW, I am installing the RS suspension or at least the front suspension tonight.  The OEM struts are very similar to KYB GR2s.  In fact, they're made by KYB.
