How many MPG's does a semi get?  :blink:  Like 6? 8?  Don't they have like 150 gallon fuel tanks or something?

They have huge fuel tanks, and they get like 5mpg of diesel fuel.

Wow that sucks.  Don't truckers have to pay for their own fuel, too?  :ph34r:  They must have at least 200 gallon tanks...because you rarely see trucks at the pump; they're either stopped, weighing in, or driving.

Probably depends on who they work for and whether or not they own their rig.

Good point.  I think most long-haul truck angencies have you buy your own truck.  But the short-trip ones probably provide the trucks.

Most conventional rigs have 2 tanks at 120 gallons each, giving them 240 total and a range of anywhere from 800 to over 2,000 miles depending on terrain and load.

Maybe, the gearing is so low the fact no load is attached probably doesn't have that much of an impact on consumption.
