Eye of the Tiger

It's just softcore, but still the best video I've seen so far. It look so much better when it's moving!

The sound of the exhaust is to die for

I see two problems with the car in that video:

1. When the hood is open, there is still sheetmetal exposed all the way around the engine bay.  No mechanic in the world can work on that car without scratching paint...even with a blanket.

2. Those mufflers won't make it to production.  They're too loud and won't pass noise regulations.

Even seeing the car in motion, it still does nothing for me.

GoCougs

Holy cow does that car walk on the Mustang and Challenger.

The gages are a bit too retro, though.

It's no worse than a C6 vette. There is alot of body work between you and the narrow hood, and the front isn't accessible at all unless you remove the hood.   I did alot of work on my Supra when I took out the engine, and put a blanket between me and the metal.  I was leaning against it for like hours and hours a day, and no paint scratches afterwards at all.

280Z Turbo

After the engine started, I fast-forwarded through most of it.

It's just someone driving it around like a little old lady. Come on! Give 'er hell!

We need a professional driver and closed course!

Eye of the Tiger

Yeah, I wish the interior wasn't so "retro" looking, but man it's a sweet car. I love the exterior, plus it's all independent suspension... I think it's just better than the Mustang or Challenger in almost all aspects.

Still waiting to see a video of it  tearing up a track, I can't find one yet.

If you skip to then end of this video, there's some nice revving sounds, still not fast driving though.

The next Mustang to come out in 2010 or whatever the year is will pwn the Challenger and Camaro.

You heard it here.  Two cars that don't yet exist beyond prototype stage will be clobbered by another car that won't exist for another two years.  Nostra-dumbass has spoken.

Huh? It doesn't sound all that loud to me.

The design is growing on me.

The only thing about this car that excited me was what it was going to force Ford to do with the Mustang.  However Ford is doing unbelievable things with the Mustang without a Camaro.

Unbelievable indeed.  Like, oh my God, I can't believe they're making another special edition Mustang without a performance upgrade!

Eye of the Tiger

I truly do not understand all the hate for the Camaro, yet all the love for the Mustang.

I believe it is mostly a reaction out of fear on the part of the die-hard Ford fanboys.

giant_mtb

My guess is that it's because when the latest generation Mustang came out, it was relatively quick and decisive and they put it into production before people lost too much interest.  It seems like with the new Camaro, they just keep releasing all these pictures and previews and stuff and it's like "hey!  when the hell are you actually gonna give us this car?!" and we're all so used to it now that it's just...old news.

Besides the California Special (which is a trim package not a special edition), what versions have they put out that don't upgrade the performance?  What special editions are on the way that won't upgrade the performance?

That's not it at all.  It's ugly.  There has only been one generation of Camaro that I actually liked and that was the 1982-1992 Generation and even then only in the IROC and RS trim levels.  Those were badass.  The only Firebird I ever liked was the last generation in WS6 or Firehawk trim levels.  Otherwise the GM cars have never done it for me.  I guess that's why I'm a Mustang guy.

Catman

Perhaps Ford will actually put an IRS on the Mustang now?  I know the current setup is decent but the solid axle is a liability in real world handling.
