I have got to admit.  The car looks a lot less radical in person, however it still doesn't do a lot for me.  I'm guessing that it's because I have never been a Camaro guy to begin with.  Again, it was hard to get pictures because people kept walking in front of me.

J86

although im glad its coming back, ive never been much of a pony car guy

Raghavan

Those non-staged pictures make it look even worse.

I love it, better than the challenger (very close though) extremely better looking than the bloated Mustang. I want one and would consider it for my next car however I will need something to tow my snowmobile. By the way, thanks Hemi for posting all these good pics

I really, really, like this Camaro.

Is this suppose to be the production model, or is it still in concept form?

I actually prefer this to the Mustang. Though is it really suppose to be a 2010 release? That's an eternity from now.

The last I heard it was to be released in lated 2008 as a 2009 model, but I wouldn't be suprised if it was released earlier as it looks production ready and all the hype surrounding it. Chevy needs this car!

It looks better in silver.  I wish GM hadn't repainted the car.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

goldenlover1101

did they repaint it or is this a different prototype altogether?

I can't find any excitement in my heart for this car. It's been batted around for too long now.

Chevy, shit or get off the pot.

I'm purposely not going to buy this thing, ever.

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

Eye of the Tiger

I guess you either love it or hate it... and I love it (as long as the production interior isn't all "retro")

The more this Camaro pops up, the more I want a Commodore SS-V instead.

I hear a lot of complaining about this car and how long it is taking to reach production, but the Challenger was shown at almost the exact same time and it is taking just as long (possibly longer and no one is complaining about that car. I just don't see a difference.

GoCougs

IMO it's my favorite GM design since the '70-73 Camaro.

The V6 model is key. Talk of use of the pushrod 3.9L makes me a bit queasy though.

Using the OHC 3.6L and 6sp AT/MT as base powertrain is key to elevating the marque.

FIU Panther

A release for late 08' would be great, even earlier would be better.

I agree they need to not go retro with the interior and instead have a nicely done simple modern interior. Something almost Spartan think previous gen BMW. Nothing elaborate, which could keep materials decent quality, and good fit and finish.

Something that's bothering me though is the grill material. It looks like cheap plastic.

Besides that the cars keep growing on me.

So your expectation is that GM/Chevy needs to offer, for around 20 (or the price of a 4-banger Camry/Solara or Accord Coupe), a RWD, 6-speed manual or automatic, coupe with exception handling and a DOHC 3.6L V6.

Its good to see that you have reasonable expectations. I think you'd be better off admiring a 350Z though (although it has to languish with a pathetic 5-speed automatic last I heard). The V6 Camaro is meant to be entry level, hence the cheap V6. The V8 model will compete with the competitions's V6's.

Considering Ford is having no problem moving V6 Mustangs with their 4.0L SOHC truck motor (which as I understand isn't a motor to write home about when you try to wring it out), I think the 3.9 OHV is plenty adequate.  In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the 3.9 could out-rev the Ford mill.  If Ford drops the new 3.5L into the Mustang, then GM should consider the 3.6.

I doubt Ford would drop the 3.5L in there, but it would be a singificant improvement (IMHO) if they dropped even the current 3.0L from the Fusion in there. The V6 Mustang I had for nearly a month had plenty of power, but it hated to rev and it drank gas like it was going out of style.

TheIntrepid

I predict the 3.9 (240hp) is going to be the base engine.

The new 4.0L V6 Mustang is just a tick or two slower then my '96 Mustang GT was (stock) with the 4.6L V8.

From what I have heard, Ford will be dropping the 3.5L in the Mustang rated at 265 hp.  When this happens the 4.6L V8 will get a power increase to approximately 350 hp.

There's more to a motor than 0-60 times.  NVH, smoothness, eagerness to rev and sound count for something too.  The 4.0L may perform pretty well, but it's not a motor I'd say begs to be wrung out.

I believe NVH is one of the biggest myths going.  NVH can be minimized or maximized by using different motor mounts, bushings, and sound deadening insulation.  The rest I agree with.

Nah, CougDude, the key to elevating the marque is to have Billy Ray Cyrus come up with a song with a title like "I Want My Mullet Back", or something like that...
