I'll make a quick Summery for you. The 335i isn't faster than the G35.

prove it.

I Just fucking did dumbass. I Just referenced points in the Video showing that the 335i was not dominate in the speed area as we all belived. In Fact, it only gained on the G35 through taking a lower speed corner better.

Watched the Video again. Starting lap, the G35 and 335i are side by side.*ON lap lap 3, again, the 3 series fails to make any gain on the G35.*
Lap 4 (about the 7 minute mark) the 335i doesn't appear to gain any on the G35.* Though, on lap 5, it did look like at lower speeds, it (the 335I) was able to power out of a corner faster, and gain on the G35, but on the second to last straightaway , the 335i, again, fails to make any ground on the G35, but instead, gains through the corner.

There, I even fixed it. Watch the video again.

Really? On the strait, the BMW looked quicker at first, but then It stopped gaining on the G35 at higher speeds. Or was That just me

They started to equalize as speeds climbed, but the acceleration out of the hole is what made the BMW the faster car.  If two cars hit the same top speed down a straight away but one of them gets up to that speed more quickly, the one that accelerates more quickly will have the higher average speed down the straight.  The 3er pulled up so close to the rear bumper of the Nissan that he nearly rearended it.  It pulled up on the Nissan out of every corner.  All he had to do was put himself in a position to actually get alongside and be in favorable cornering position and he could've stuck the pass.  There's no doubt in my mind that that would have happened if they'd run another lap.

What are you talking about? I asked if I was the only one seeing the G35 Hold its own vs te 3er when the Speeds rose. The 335 looks faster out of the hole, and at lower speeds, but as the cars went down the main strait, the 3er could pull enough on the G.

335's run what? Because 07 350Z's are mid to low 13 second cars. Stock.

C&D clocked a 335i at 13.6 @ 105 mph through the 1/4.  The new G35s run low 14s (IIRC, C&D got 14.1) and new 350Zs aren't really any quicker (C&D got 14.2 out of an '07 in a recent "Quickest cars between $25K-$30K" article).

To be fair that 07 Z running a 14.2 is a horrible time. mid-13s is about average.

C&D also got a 13.9 @ 103mph from an 07 G35.  While slower, 2mph trap speed differences are within say the variations seen between tests.  For example 350Z times reported have varied between 98mph to 101mph for the same model.

And apparently our G35 is slightly (though not much) different from the 350GT Type SP (which is the version tested here).  There is a slight weight difference 3538lbs(g35 Sport auto) vs 3520lbs (Type SP).  Also according to the Nissan.jp site, the Japanese version of the HR makes 315PS with translates to about 310HP or so vs the 306HP G35 (not uncommon for JDM's to have higher output.)

http://www2.nissan.co.jp/SKYLINE/V36/0611/index.html

Also that site is rather interesting because:
1.  It's apparently the Skyline's 50th anniversary (since 1957).  Few cars nameplates get to celebrate its 50th year (Corvette is the only one I can recall).  Congrats to the Skyline for that feat.

2. There's some info on the 2.5L VQ with 221HP.  It's a real shame Infiniti/Nissan doesn't bring this engine over to America.

The 335i's Accelleration times are suspect. I still want to see an owner acctually track thier car to compare times. The 335i, as I pointed out MX has a Way better low end than the VQ, but as the speeds rise, the VQ holds its own, with no actual gain/loss.

Either you're German and you like to capitalize your nouns in English, or you're not much older then 14.  Fact.
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

Thanks Raza. I have a Black Magic package 1 w/ DSG. My wife and I are expecting a new addition to the family so we'll be replacing the GTI with a car with a couple more doors. Perhaps a 4 door GTI or an A3.

I personally think you could stick with a 3 door.  It's got plenty of room, you just have to move the seats forward.  But I'd also look into the GLI if I were you.  Huge trunk on that one.

(I have a Passat as well; I'm a big fan of Volkswagen.)

The only thing about my current car is that it will be a hassle putting in and removing the baby car seat from the backseat. Otherwise it fits my needs perfectly. I will look into the GLI as well.

Oh right.  I keep forgetting that people come in as new additions really small and not able to do things for themselves.  As you can tell, I'm not a family man.

The GLI's roughly the same size on the inside as my Passat (very small, marginal, fractional differences in interior dimensions), but it's 10 inches shorter and packs 1.4 extra cubic feet in the boot over the Passat's more than useful 15.  I've thought about one seriously to replace my Passat.

Congratulations on the kid, man.  Are you buying baseball gloves or tutus?

Yeah, the M roadster is quicker in a straight line than my Boxster S.  Not by much though, and they handle very poorly compared to the Boxster.  How very mature of you to try and call me out by say that some car that BMW makes is quicker than my car.  How about every time you say something, I point out how slow your 5 series is?  I mean, you'd get your ass beaten down by a Camry or Accord.  Clearly they are the better cars.
