1970-1978 240Z/260Z/280Z or 2003-present 350Z

You know I had to do it!

afty

When I was a kid, my dad had a red 280Z that I loved.  I always wanted to ride in it wherever we went.  He had to get rid of it because it was a 2-seater and couldn't seat him, my mom, and me.  I trace my love of Nissans and manual transmissions back to this car.

I voted for the new one because I like it, even though I like the old one too.

240Z for me if it's rust free. I'll even take a 260Z if I couldn't find a 240.

My respect for you has slightly dropped.

This is a little tough... I'm going to go with the original.

I like the new one and the VQ is one hell of an engine but I cringe every time I see one from the rear. It's a nice design at the front and the side profile is alright but it's got a dreadfully ugly arse.

I'll take the old one, thank you.  The new one is boring.

As much as I absolutely love my 350, I picked the 240Z. They're just so gorgeous.

What's wrong with that?? It would kick ass.
I know a guy who put a Chevy small block in his 280 and I just didn't like the cars personality after that. To each his own but if I wanted an American V8 powered car I would buy a Corvette or Camaro. I like the old Datsun motors.

Well this has to be the easiest one yet.    S30, without a goddamned doubt.     Ford 302 for even more appeal....

Guess which one I picked. ;) Anyway, here are some pros and cons for you:

350Z:
-Quieter
-More comfortable
-More powerful
-Safer
-Better brakes
-More grip
-Less rusty
-Doesn't suck in exhaust fumes
-Better interior
-Good aerodynamics (the S30 is AWFUL in that respect)
-The VQ-series V6 sounds great!

S30:
-Lighter
-More involving to drive
-Better looking
-Easier to work on
-Cheaper to run, cheaper to buy, cheaper to mod
-The L-series straight six also sounds great!

I picked the new one, although I love the old one and its gorgeous. The new one is very attractive in coupe form, but in convertible form it is horribly ugly from behind, almosty like someone added a hump on the trunk.

Yeah cause the Ford engines installed in the Cobra ruined those cars.

240/60/80. Thank goodness you didn't say 280ZX, or I'd have gotten upset.

That being said, a 280ZX wouldn't be all bad. I might enjoy it, actually. Only the early '79-'80 ones, mind.

Why? The 1979-1981 models are all pretty much the same. The 1982-1983 cars got body colored bumpers.

I don't want to agree with that, but I kinda do.

Everybody and their mom has a Chevy V8. It's more fun to kick some ass with a Nissan engine rather than a Chevy engine wrapped in a Nissan skin. I feel like I'm part of team Nissan, sometimes. :P

Raza

That's true.  I have a Chevy V8.  And I just got my mom one for Mother's Day.

After you wake up with the sun at 6am on someone's floor, coughing up cigarette butts and tasting like warm beer, you may well change your opinion on this matter.

I prefer the smaller chrome/black bumpers that we got on the '79-'80s, instead of the later models.
