Chrysler has given the green light to the Imperial.? I don't know if this is a good thing or not since it's not really my cup of tea.? Full story here: http://www.leftlanenews.com/report-chrysler-approves-imperial-production.html

It's fine, so long as they completely redesign it.

Marketing-wise it should instill consumer confidence in Chrysler if they can pull off a great new 'halo' product.

Just as long as it doesn't look like a bloated Rolls-Royce-ripoff turd like the concept.

That should be a Chrysler tradition...The Intrepid is a poor man's Aston Martin Rapide and this could be the poor man's Rolls.

Of course the difference is you have to be drunk (or Adi) to see the similarities between the Rapide and the Intrepid while the similarities between the Imperial concept and a Rolls are quite obvious.

Don't forget the poor mans Bentley: the 300.

And that car is a hit.

I agree it needs a re-design, but if they manage to sort that stuff out they might end up with a couple cars in their line-up that people actually want to buy.

On the other hand this thing could be a disaster.

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

I think most people think it's ugly.

It looks better in person than in those press pictures. Large and imposing, like the Roller. And better proportioned than the top two photos make it out to be.

But yeah, it'll be slightly different by the time it reaches production.

I think it's a good idea, as long as they make it more original looking!

Just what the world needs.  Another overweight, overpowered, thirsty, box-like "luxury" car.

Who in the hell is designing these things?  The same guy that designs shipping containers?

Well it seems to be what people want, judging by sales of S-Classes

Is this supposed to be a 300 replacement?

IIRC, I think its a step up from the 300, along the lines of a top level 300 but not replacing the 300.

So I guess this means the proposed long-wheelbase 300 won't happen because they want to build this monstrosity instead?  Too bad.  I like the looks of the 300 much better than this.  It looks like one of those Chinese rip-offs of a Rolls Phantom.

that design would almost work if the car weren't so freakin tall.

if I were to redesign the production version, I'd have Nicole Richie stand around in the design studio as a maximum height reference :praise:

What would make this car a "real" Imperial?  That's like saying the next Camaro isn't a "real" Camaro.

Probably less than the original. For example in '63-65, curb weight was 4900-5100 lbs depending on model and options. That would be the same for the ones posted above.

Seriously, take a look at it. Let's even say this guy is short- like 5'3". That roofline has to be near 60"- which makes it taller than some small SUVs.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?
