I couldn't find a better Legend pic, so bare with its enormous size.  If you were affluent in the 1980s and for you the best things in life were free, what would you pick, Ferris Bueller?
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

Is that Legend pic a genuine Ifcar?

I went with the Alfa.

Oh, the Bimmer. But not the 528e. I'd prefer the 535is, that's with an LSD.

You know what? I'd take them all. Perhaps not the 405, but I'd be happy to see a pristine example of all the others sitting in the family driveway.

My "something else" category from here on out will be nothing but barrels of fun.

I tried grinding ten people up the rear with a 4WD Geo, and it had a 60% success rate! So much for these inexperienced louts in bars

Of course. Lots of the images from these threads have been.

And you can adjust the image size within the URL, I cut it down to half the original size.

I'm partial to the Legend so that's what I picked.

That Alfa looks pretty good too.

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

I picked the 5er, but the Benz was a very close second.  It was built like a vault in the 1980s.

The Peugeot 405 is neither a luxury car nor of the same size as the others. If there's a Peugeot in this league it would have been the 605.
Whatever.
Out of those: The Bimmer, please.

I'm not sure we got the 605 in America.

This is a 605 btw

The 300E defined luxury and financial mobility in the '80s. Now if we were talking sports sedans the E28 would have taken my pick. The Alfa came in a close third.

Benzes of that era were all built like Sherman Tanks--er, Panzers.

I actually picked the 300E. I loved that generation E-class, all the way to 1996.

1995.  The W-210 began production in 1996, unless you're talking about the W-124 E-class cabriolet, which was built into 1996 to satisfy the demand for it.

I just did some research of the E cabrio, and it based at $79k in 1995.  Amazingly expensive!

I always like the MB 300E - it was the pinnacle of yuppie success in the day.? The 5er was a close second. But personally, I chose the 5000.? It was the Audi that hooked me on Audis.? I rented one in Germany in 88.? 5 Cyl 5 speed manual Audi 100 it was called there.? Loved every minute I was behind the wheel - hit 130 MPH on Autobahn A8 near Heidelberg.? When I got back home, I promptly bought a 3 yr old 5 cyl 5 speed 86 Audi Coupe GT.? The love affair hasn't dimmed much 19 years later.

Eye of the Tiger

I have to go with the Benz because it really is a most excellent vehicle, especially for the yuppie dink types. There isn't much else from the 80's than can match their quality.

But, if you had given the Pontiac 6000 as an option, there is a slight chance I'd have voted for it instead.

The 5er, just because I'm a troll.

I loved the Benz, too... I grew up around that car. My family never had one, but my uncles were car dealers and those things were some of my favorites. It was certainly a lot better looking than the 5er.
