Eye of the Tiger

This city... where one can take a walk down to the corner-store and just happen to see a few Lagondas, Gallardos and Z1s... I must live in this city.

Nice pics, It's been a while since a Cars From... thread!

chevyguy06

Wow I love that RS4! Great pics Wims.
'05 Ford Escape XLT V6

Secret Chimp

I rarely see cars that scream "I'm a monstrous douchebag" like that Hummer does.

That's a great local brewery that we have. Do I drink their beer? No.

280Z Turbo

Reminds me of a Delorean:

I'm not too fond of that color though.

TheIntrepid

Great pics Wimmer.

A couple points

-Why did you take a pic of the LS430 if you hate it so much? :P

-That Hummer's got Lambo doors but no "bling" 30" rims?

-That W126 is crouching in the back as if John Candy's body is in the trunk

-Blacked-out tails on the Gallardo? Ew.

-How rare are Chrysler Voyagers there? You can see one on the left of the LS430 pic.

Great pics though

Nice bunch of cars, Christian!  Thanks for posting them.  :ohyeah:

Yikes!  Looks like the love child of a Volve 850 and a Cadillac Allante.  Glad that style didn't stick around long.  I guess Aston Martin went on a tiny little crack binge, but recovered!

I love the RS4 convertible - never seen one of those.  But that H2.  What can I say?  What a horrific display of audacious putrosity!  :pee:

I think the Lagonda is one of the best-looking cars of all time.  :mask:

Next to the Esteem, right?

But really, the Lagonda is a timeless design.

JYODER240

I think thats a V8 Vantage and not a DB9.

What are you talking about?! That's as dated as any design I've seen!

That's got 1970's written all over it!

The Lagonda looks like a 5 year old designed it.

William Towns designed it, and he was definitely a grown-up.
Having designed the beautiful (curvy) Aston DBS/V8 line he went all 'folded-paper' stylee.  He was the height of fashion for a while and feted by all the magazines, as I recall.  When origami supercars lost their appeal he started applying the style to little city-car concepts and stuff.

Now, I like the Lagonda, but if you think that looks horribly dated, have a look at his Bulldog...

("fastest car in the world", it was claimed).

Wow!? That angular era of car design was not a high point for the automotive world.? Reminds me of what the Brutalist style of building did for architecture.? Both seem like they were designed by a hormone-charged 14 year old boy with a bad attitude in study hall.? Where's the projectile vomit smiley??

The architectural equivalent to the "folded paper" cars - the Brutalist Boston City Hall.? :pee:

hmmm; I actually like Boston City Hall -- never seen it but I've studied it on paper; funnily enough in Birmingham City Library which was obviously inspired by it.

I'm a huge fan of Le Corbusier who was the father of this style.  Contrary to popular belief I think it's very humane and honest.  Of course its misunderstood, for the very good reason that it was/is beyond most folks terms of reference for what buildings 'should' look like. And the 'Brutal' connotation doesn't help even though it's an unfortunate mistranslation of the French 'brut' meaning raw - as in the use of raw concrete.

-Why did you take a pic of the LS430 if you hate it so much? :P Well it's like an exotic car here. You never see them, and when you do, you're like "Wow what's that?" - then you fall asleep.

-That Hummer's got Lambo doors but no "bling" 30" rims? Cool, eh?  :praise:

-That W126 is crouching in the back as if John Candy's body is in the trunk The guy in the back must have had a weight problem.  :praise:

-Blacked-out tails on the Gallardo? Ew. I think it looks quite sporty and aggressive.  :ohyeah:

-How rare are Chrysler Voyagers there? You can see one on the left of the LS430 pic. Quite common overhere, especially with some unknown 2.5-l Italian turbodiesel engine. I drove one of them too!  :ohyeah:

Anytime Ron. :praise:

Agreed. The RS4 is hot in white and a hot car in any color. The Lagonda is ugly as hell, but it's a classic and a legendary car and with those, design doesn't matter. The Lambo Countach is ugly as sin, but it's a legend.  :ohyeah:
