Wow...last century.  Anyhoo, I love compact economy cars as much as the next person.  I drive one.  Which one of these cars that all weigh less than 2,800 lbs. (as compared to some that now weigh upwards of 3,100 lbs.)  In the world of perfect 35 mpg commuter cars, which one is the car you'd most like to be cruising in while listening to your Smashing Pumpkins CD?
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

It's a tossup between the Jetta VR6 and the Impreza 2.5RS.

Nirvana, not Smashing Pumpkins.  Smashing Pumpkins sucked.

Jetta.

I wasn't really including the performance models in this competition even though I have a picture of a Z24 Cavalier, so I chose to go with an Impreza 2.2 L followed by the Honda Civic.  If I threw in the 2.5 RS, this competition would be completely different.

Early 90's or late 90's?  If late 90's, I'd go with a Mazda Protege.

Otherwise, it'd either be a Civic hatchback or a Subie wagon.

I like to think mid-1990s as to get the best mix of the cars.  I tried to assume 1995-97  :ohyeah:

On that note, I'll add the Protege.

I just don't know. It would come down to the Impreza, Sentra or Proteg'e.

I can't believe the Imperza got so many votes. As an economy car, it's a POS. It's expensive, and it doesn't get very good gas mileage.

The best years of the Civic were in the 90's, so I chose it. Double wishbone suspension, hooray!

The B13 SE-R was cool, and is even cooler with the turbo or NEO VVL motor... but you can't beat double wishbones all around.

I picked the Jetta, but where's the Golf?  Give me a hatch, any day!

Sentra..Especially a 91-94 model.Those were almost indestructable and the SE-R model was a hoot.

You're absolutely right.  My car with the 1.8 liter engine averages about 22-25 mpg in the city, but the car is a blast to drive for an economy car and an extremely capable platform.

Escort, followed by Protege and Impreza.

I voted for the J-body. I have a 93 sunbird with around 300,000k on it. (I only drive it in the winter the last few years) Its just started its 4th set of tires, and front brakes. It hasn't used a drop of oil, nor has had any major mechanical breakdown. Only the air conditioning doesn't work anymore. It still consitantly gets around 45mpg (proper sized gal) on the highway. For that, it earns top spot in my books.

You're supposed to say the Camry beats them all because it's just as economical, yet is luxurious at the same time, all while being the world's most perfect form of transportation. What happened to the Camry whore!?

Vaguely. Was there an extremely long thread with random whoring and such, about an old Taurus?
