Last night I was working at about 10pm when I noticed a stolen mustang convertible.  I chased him for about 15 miles at rediculous speed when he went off the road and went end over end about 2 times and them went side over side about 3 more times.   The driver?  A 16 year old chick in a bikini.  Not a scratch on her- not a dent in the fneder- and totally drunk.  I couldn't even lock her up- had to give her to her parents.

You can't lock up a 16 year old for driving drunk and underage and for evading police?

Surprised they didn't call off the pursuit. Around here lately there has been quite a safety concern over chases.

She'll probably get a lawyer at 18 and petition the DLAD (driver license administrative division - secretary of state enforcement oversight group) and get it back with almost no points.  Michigan is a easy place to get your license back.

Only if the activity occured in my jurisdiction- unless theres some kind of cyber-law thing I don't know or care about- and then the answer would still be no- mostly because I'm here for fun.

I dunno. He's always replying with essays in the Law Enforcement threads and I remember someone once mentioned that he's the foremost authority on the subject, so I assumed he's a cop.

Sort of.  I did accounting and financial analysis and then branched out into economic and policy analysis.  My undergrad degree is in economics and an MBA in finance.  In any case, I'm currently retired but looking to go back home (Austin, TX) and/or back to work since I have resolved my uncle's estate, selling everything except the firearms.  In short, I'm bored out my mind.

I do have about 50 years of experience with the public policy of traffic flow, traffic control and traffic systems.
Freedom is dangerous.  You can either accept the risks that come with it or eventually lose it all step-by-step.  Each step will be justified by its proponents as a minor inconvenience that will help make us all "safer."  Personally, I'd rather have a slightly more dangerous world that respects freedom more. ? Fucking hell!  You couldn't even arrest her?  Shit, I need to go back in time and break some more laws.

Er...

That sucks that she put lives in danger and you can't really do anything about it.

You probably put more lives in danger by chasing her at "rediculous speeds" than she did drving around having a good time.  Good job...

Just everyday country type roads out in the county- started in a more urban area and went straight out of town.  Most of wehre we were was 55 but some  of the areas were 35 and 45 zones.

normally I'd say that on a back country roads that isn't too bad but throw in that she was drunk and only 16 and thats pretty much suicide.

Now, as you all know, I'm not exactly the pro-copper voice around here, but I'm actually with Randy on this one.  She was young, drunk, and in a stolen car.  And this is 10PM, so not exactly midday traffic.
