Yeah, after I order it. And then I have to put it in. But I also need new transmissoon cooler lines, and need to modify the radiator support to fit the new radiator. And stuff.

Go some custom CVT variator roller weights and carb jets for $12. An 80cc big bore kit starts around $30. Scooty parts are cheap as hell.

Need lower gearing for hill climbs.
Got some new 4-gram variator rollers.

Some of the "super scooters" are motorcycle fast.  You could legit tour with them.  After his Goldwing got to be too much weight for my grandfather, he got a 400cc Suzuki scooter as a runabout (which was what he used the Wing for mostly).  That thing was surprisingly fast.  Comparable to a 250cc bike, for sure.  Had no trouble accelerating from a stop to 60 mph on a decent incline.  I didn't really need to give it the spurs and it didn't feel like it was working that hard and it pulled up the hill quick enough to stay ahead of typical traffic.  Pretty sure it would do 80+.  And that was the small engine model.  There's a 650cc version with like double the power.

I will say that highway speeds on a scooter is a weird feeling.  I like being able to grip the bike between my legs to help stay more planted on the machine.

Some scoots can certainly be fast.
For my commute, the 50cc scoot just does the trick. Of course, it is basically WOT all the time.
Now that I have it fine tuned, it will do 35-40 MPH on flat ground, climb the steepest hills at 20-25, and hit 50+ down hills.

It is basically WOT, all the time. This thing is geared for streetz. So far, I've hit the left turn signal with the speedo needle. That is an indicated 60 MPH, actual probably 53 MPH. Starting on hills is tough. On the steepest hill, it will crawl up at 15 MPH. Usually, it will not drop below 30.

I pulled the spark plug, and it has a nice beige color - just right. I got a set of main jets for the carb, so I might try going up a size, and then opening up the air intake a bit. I think I can squeeze another 0.3 HP out of it. That's like a 10%  increase in power.

Done did some carburetor work ...
Changed main jet from 0.75mm to 0.80mm.
Moved the metering rod up one notch.

This should, maybe, add enough fuel to keep the mixture just on the rich side after I add a pod air filter and modify the muffler.

Now I need a breakdown on the acceleration potential of a scooter and a Camry (for comparison purposes) to see if 20-50 knots per hour is a realistic acceleration number.

Well of course; 50 knots per hour would be taking an hour to accelerate to 50 knots.

More land speed racing than drag racing, if land speed racing required sustained speed for some amount of time.

Knots refers to nautical miles per hour and 1 nautical mile is roughly 1.15 miles.

Nautical miles is not probably technically correct but that works in my head.

You are correct.

A knot is a knot; specifically a knot in a log line that's 7 fathoms from the next knot. You throw the log in, and count how many knots are unspooled in 28 seconds; and that's how fast you're
going.

And then my checking account got overdrawn, so add a $25 overdraft fee to that.

I am going to set the ring end gaps to 0.009" and 0.011" according to the Wiseco chart for high-performance builds. Perhaps a bit more than usual, but the engine will be run at WOT most of the time.

It runs! I got scooty purring like a one-eyed runt kitten. Ran it good around the neighborhood on some hills to break in the new piston rings. Torque is up a metric shit ton. It pulls up these hills like nobody's business, and at part throttle. Full throttle feels like it still has more potential. I may have to go up a jet size.

Seriously, though, do you really think you have enough compression to detonate on regular?

Not sure if it's true for 4-strokes, but small displacement 2-strokes (80cc or less) seem to love lower octanes, even heavily worked motors.  I remember when I raced MX, there was this guy with a kid racing in the 80cc class and he put a bunch of money into the motor sending it out to Pro Circuit to have a high compression piston and port job.  He was running 108 octane race fuel and it ran like crap.  Put some regular pump gas in it and it ran like a champ.

Why don't they just turn gas pumps into Coke Freestyle machines? Just squirt in whatever extra octane you need just before the nozzle. Want to add a hint of vanilla to your gasoline? Easy.

The crummy thing doesn't work half the time, gets stuck open or closed, and pulls unnecesary amps from the weak electrical system.

Twist the throttle a couple of times to squirt gas from the accelerator pump, and the cold engine cranks up on the second or third try.
