Right about the time I'd decided that my S2k plan would be a better idea next year my buddy found another toy.

He just traded '92 NSX in on an Imola '02 NSX-T. Very quick decision for him based a lot on the rare color.

I wish I would have had the coin to pick up his '92, but that made even less sense than the S2k right now...

Bro, as long as you don't crash it, NSX ownership is no more expensive than an S2K. It's a 2 seater, the S2K's a 2 seater... I say if you have the means, go for it.

Chassis code. Hondas are generally two letters and a number. The car in my sig is a "CB7"- CB indicating it's a 4th gen Accord, 7 being tied to its trim (American LX/EX sedan)

The S2k I looked at was definitely doable, at roughly 10k + my RSX as trade.

Buying his NA1 from him would have been double that, just not smart for me at the moment.

Pic as promised.

Maybe his NA1.... but there are ones w/higher mileage that are still roadworthy that would be halfway between his NSX and the S2K u looked at....

My friend had 2 NA1 and currently has a NA2.  His first NA1, after he bought it, found out had frame damage so he sold it and got another, but when they annouced that 2006 was the last year for the NSX, he decided he has to have it since he has a thing for last year models.

And after 5 years of ownership.. the car has 800ish miles on it.  And its had 10 oil changes already.......

Nice car, but honestly, the interior feels really dated.  And the antenna looks really really really out of place.

CALL_911

I would do awful things for that car.

+1 to everything Sporty said, do it, VTEC, do it. Resistance is futile.

I have to say though, the S2k has a better fun factor than a NA1.

You don't buy an NSX for an up to date anything.

It's a timeless classic that epitomizes the best Honda had to offer in its prime. It's dated interior conjures the spirit of primetime Hondas like the DC2 ITR.

It's appeal will run deeper for someone who appreciates the VTEC philosophy & is already interested in an S2K. I haven't driven an NSX, but I have driven an AP1 and I imagine an NSX being like an S2K with more power, better handling and worse visibility. If I could I would def buy one now

Well, the NSX would work better as an everyday car than a S2K would.  I think a comparison of Boxster vs 911 Carrera would probably be fitting.  For a fun car, the S2k would be more fun..

It's not just you. Pop up headlamp NSX's look 8 million times better then the ugly ass fixed headlamp ones.

I was just joking. But in all seriousness, those gripes are pretty minor. The interior feels dated because it is dated; it's a used car with an old design. If the antenna is your only other complaint, I don't see why that would sway anyone.

Well, it's not really a complain, just a comment.  But honestly, with the cost of the car at $90k, they could've at least done a minor update on the interior and gotten rid of the antenna, it wouldn't have been expensive.

Man I'm getting old. I think 90's interiors look better then the new ones. I like the inside of the NSX, RX-7 and 300Z more then modern cars.

There's one thing you're right about though, I'm not too fond of all the excess faux aluminum and large touch screens in modern cars.

VTEC_Inside

The actual trade went down today. He let me drive his NA1 out there.

I think you are on to something sporty. The s2k was nice but didn't feel different enough from my RSX-S. The NSX was an f'n blast. The steering and braking is just on a completely different level.

I took it pretty easy since he traded it in with the original wheels wrapped in 9 yr old dunlops, but I did give it one last hurrah onto the final offramp, dropped to 3rd at 100kph and let that ride to 170kph. Scrubbed that back down to 90kph in what seemed like an instant and cruised the remaining 2 blocks to the dealer in the same gear.

Amazing experience.

I brought my camera today so I've got a bunch more pics of both cars that I'll post later. The Imola orange looks crazy in the sun.

I like the S2000. But if I had to pick between these two I'd take the NSX every time.

That said I'm not so sure sporty is correct about the repair cost being about the same in the NSX. But I wouldn't give a fuck about that anyway.

Well body work is much more expensive. But maintenance is good old Honda. Plus the OG ones are on like 16s

I read a review once that said out of VTEC the AP1 was about as exciting as an Accord. My friend who has an AP1 agreed with me in that my old H22A Accord had more midrange punch (but the AP1 had the top end advantage)

An NSX weighs about the same as both cars and has a good 50-100 HP + significantly lighter nose than both.... it's a no brainer. On paper it sounds perfect for Honda fans
