Couldn't find the Fusion thread.

Same as the Fusion, but adds a 5-door as well as a Wagon.

1.0L Ecoboost replaces the 1.6L as the base motor.

It's nice. I'm not a big wagon guy, but it's nice.

Gorgeous wagon!

I wouldn't mind one of those! Interesting how a relatively big midsizer like this will get a 1.0 base engine.

This and the Mazda 6 have the potential to really give the competition trouble. If the rest of the car is a great as the styling that is.

Very curious about this 1.0L. Looks like an Aston Martin. I love it

That's a great looking wagon.

BMW is bringing over the new 328i Touring to America but it will be A/T transmission only so it will alienate most enthusiasts. Clearly BMW is playing it safe. They're targeting the typical luxury buyer that wants something sporty and practical and roomy and it must not be a CUV or SUV.

Hey, did I mention we have tons of choices in Europe when it comes to cars?  :praise:

Nobody will buy them here.  Period.  Hell GM is discontinuing the gorgeous CTS wagon after this model run is done...because they can't sell them.

I never said I didn't like wagons.  I love wagons.  The American public doesn't.

Madman, GM tried it with the CTS and it didn't work.  Mercedes and BMW have been trying it with the E and 5 and they sell in such small numbers.

I like wagons, and I like this one.

Unfortunately North Americans want SUV's instead.

I still don't get why Americans prefer an SUV over a wagon. I just don't get it.

The way I see it, if I need an SUV, I'll buy an SUV. But here I can get a wagon with optional AWD from most manufacturers (not all, but most). AWD/FWD would be more useful to me than RWD because in the winters I can't venture to certain areas where important clients are with a BMW 1-Series without the risk of getting stuck.

Absolutely nothing having to do with importing a vehicle and certifying it for sale in this country is free.

I see quite a few VW sport wagons around.  And Subarus. Sure they ruined the Outback, but I think there's still a market for sensible larger vehicle buyers..

SUV's are almost as popular in your market as they are ours. Stop saying that no one likes SUV's when there's far more involved than just AWD.

For starters, ingress/egress is typically far easier in an SUV rather than a car. Then the driving position is more upright than a car, which for many people is more comfortable. Then, the ride of a typical SUV is usually softer and more isolated than a car. Plus, an SUV will typically have a bit more room inside than a sedan of the same footprint.

Most SUVs these days are just tall hatchbacks with some cladding, anyways.

It wasn't until the recent "crossover" craze that SUVs got a ride that could be called "soft" or "isolated".  Drive a 90s Explorer, they ride like a truck.  Rough, stiff...

Yeah, people back then liked sitting up high (and no other reason until car-based ones like RAV4 and CRV came along). Nowadays, most people buy them for the reasons I explained.

No. Most people can't afford a Cayenne. Those that can afford the gas moneys drive something like that. Everyone else drives a mixture of econobox and local makes.   Plus they realize you dont' HAVE to have an SUV or truck to get from point A to point B. it was sure funny seeing little tiny cars pulling camp trailers...

Not saying they don't want SUVs- but the market is drastically different there. $8/gallon gas will do that to you.

BTW Agree with the rest on why people like SUVs. You forgot the "image"- people make fun of minivans so most people that "should" be driving one don't. They get a less capable (city-wise) SUV.

"Tall wagons" (sometimes called mini MPVs), which are often marketed as crossover SUVs in the US because "wagon" is a surefire way to tarnish a car's image, are pretty popular in Europe.  I'm thinking specifically of cars like the C-max, Zafira, or Touran.  And the reasoning is the same reason people in the US like SUVs and crossovers.  They like the taller seating position and ease of ingress/egress.

I only am spending a couple minutes searching, because I doubt those sell very many at all, comparitively speaking.

Top10 selling the last couple years http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best_selling_automobiles_in_Europe

Oh and here are the top 318= http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2012/04/the-top-318-best-selling-cars-in-europe-hint-the-corolla-is-nowhere-to-be-seen/
(scroll down) Apparently there ARE a few small SUVs pretty high up.

But compare that with the US http://www.goodcarbadcar.net/2012/04/us-best-selling-vehicles-march-2012.html

And "SUV's are almost as popular in your market as they are ours." is not accurate. Look at how many little cars sell so much better there!! And here in the US of A, just since 2008 a lot of people STARTED buying littler cars..
