The Curse of the New Car: it's snowing pretty heavily right now. Cannot drive.

Also, I thought about the louvers. The obstruction would add a lot of wind turbulence in the cabin. When you pop the top, the rear window folds down. Still looks nice though, and definitely an interesting mod choice if you plan on just keeping the top up all the time.

The point of the Louvers is to minimize sun into the cabin, those long hatchbacks got a lot of greenhouse going on! Back in the day when A/C wasn't as common/efficient. So I would say it's unnecessary for the RF...

I actually think the louvres would help with cabin turbulence by acting as a sort of wind blocker to keep air coming over the top of the windshield from circling back.

There is already a clear acrylic wind blocker in place..

If you just wanted to keep the top up all the time, like a punk bitch, you'd be better off with a soft top + removable hard top.

And a 2+2?  And a submarine.  Weighing 1,900 pounds, with a V8, and costing $15,000.

If that's the case, the louvres may not make any difference at all in terms of cabin turbulence.  I actually think they might improve aerodynamics over the back of the car.  Although I think those were a photoshop; not sure anybody is actually making them for the car, so it's all kind of moot.

You have my attention. Could there be a rear half door to make it easier for my dogs to use the back seat?

It is a shoop, but I'm just mulling over whether or not it's a good idea.

Looks like my university recruiting trip will coincide with sunny weather in the low 50's. That'll be an easy and scenic way to rack up some break-in miles. Chuckanut drive ftw. Too bad it's so short.

Louvres almost always look like tacky afterthoughts, even when they're kinda cool like on muscle cars or Datsuns. The only time they look remotely classy is as engine louvres to a mid-engined exotic.

Anyone who'd cover up those achingly beautiful buttresses with a couple strips of plastic needs an eye exam.

Well, they could add another half door, but then they'd have to make it a 2+2+3; it'll weigh 50 pounds more and cost an extra $75.

A fixed roof Miata option would not be the end of the world, especially if it could save some weight and add some rigidity for racers and hardcore track guys.

Wouldn't hurt to do an oil change then, too.

The engine bay is suuuuper tidy on the NDs. Lots of space, the hoses and wires are laid out really tidily. It's remarkable how long the crash protection north of the engine is, though.
