Most of the guys? sell paint to do some custom work(cars, bikes, etc) and it can be hard to use when mixing HOK with other basecoats(when overlaying graphics or airbrushing). Atleast those are the complaints i've heard. If your using HOK products exclusively with one another then you'll be fine.

Hey man, this is my first paint job ever: graphics and airbrushing aren't in the plans: but thanks for the heads up.

HOK is priced like any other paint, price mostly depends on the color.

PPG has paints costing up to 1500 a gallon, even an unbelievable 5000 for that color shifting crap.

Yeah, like I said I didn't see that much of a difference; at least not in the colors I was interested in.

I need Lexan paint, $5 a can. :banghead:
And the body is $20. But I'm going to get an S2000 body and cut the top off (even though you aren't supposed to so i'll get lots of air to inside.
Back on topic, how much is that per gallon? How many gallons do you need?

Heck, now that i'm struggling to set up my garage to do it, there are already three people that have asked if I'd be interested in helping them with their projects...

It's going to cost me a little under $300 for six quarts of the base color. Including everything:  primer, sealer, base, and clear with all the proper reducers and catalysts its going to be a little over $700.00 for paint.

Lexan-specific paint? What about Krylon Fusion, its supposed to stick to plastic and it's only $3-4 a can.

That's not bad!
So is that paint really cheap? I thought it'd be like $200/gallon.

Thats a pretty typical price, the stuff adds up fast when you start adding in primer/primer sealer and all the other crap.

No, its higher end stuff, but one of their simpler systems. It is like 200/gallon: like I said : 6 quarts for $300.00

Is $5 a can really that much? You could probably paint your car 20 times over with one can...., unless you're going for a fancy tu-tone color scheme.

$4.19 for 3oz, which is enough for 1 car.
