My dad bought one new in 86'.

The engine seized 186 miles later.

Yeah, that Mayhead V12 with its 6 miles of vacuum lines and Lucas electronics is kitten-stabbing level of rage potential. Sweet when it all works though.

Those were the years of 'nationalization', not a good idea for the likes of Jaguar.  The 80s was, more or less, when they bottomed out and acquired their love/hate reputation.

Know a guy that put a Caddy 500 in one though...
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Wouldn't surprise me. I've heard of lots of Chevy 350 swaps. I commend the owner for keeping the V12 though, and hopefully they sorted out any of the issues. I would think they did, given it's pushing 40 years now.

About twice the auction rate for these too.

Could be worth twice as much if he put in a lot of sound deadening and other creature comforts or driveability improvements. But it doesn't look like he's done anything to it.

There's a '66 Rambler Ambassador on CL that's absolutely mint and the seller, very likely an older person only wants $3700 for it.

If I thought for one second I could get there before this is gone, I'd go for it. I think it really only has 40 K on it.

S2000 for only $3750. Just needs a top and engine work "preliminary diagnosis is bent valves and compression issues"

Heh, just a couple of weeks ago, I was reading that for some reason, it's pretty common for S2000s to have to have tighter than spec valve clearances. I wonder if that's at all related to the valve issues. Getting my valves checked is on my to-do list.

Plus, LOL @ "fully optioned" because I'm pretty sure there were literally zero options other than colors.

Also, that's one of the worst roof patching jobs I've ever seen. Those tops wear out in a few known locations, so most people patch them from the inside to prevent them from wearing out in the first place, and even if they do wear through, it looks way better to patch the inside and use a vinyl repair kit on the outside (literally did that yesterday and today on my car).

Soup DeVille

Yes, there were pretty much no options on any S2000.

The engine is 9 grand.
