Why not an old Honda?

There is not reason why not. In fact, I was checking out a '92 Civic Si listed for $1500...

2nd gen HF. I'll take the 60mpg highway combined with the insanely awesome handling.

The correct answer was 2nd gen Si.

They are twitchy SOB's at the limit. I spun out twice the first time I took ours out on the track.

But you don't get the Si brakes or the D16A6!

The non-Si brakes are perfectly adequate, and the D16A6 is slow anyway. I want the 70mpg.

Diesels are overpriced these days due to the popularity of bio diesel among tree huggers.

That also might have 300,000 miles, be beat all to hell and drive like a total piece of crap, because they weren't even very good when they were new.

But it looks like a cop car and has a V8.

"It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what? "

I am speculating... Sciroccos aren't exactly as common as Ford Tauruses. Perhaps it is not such a good idea.
