It has been released.  A bit of an odd duckling, but with it comes the announcement of another likely great engine, a new V8TT.

Difficult takes a day, impossible takes a week.

Another thing to use the N54. So we know it will be decently quick.

It looks much better in this picture.

Just for the record, I hate it.

That's surprising, because it's an SUV with the practicality chopped off, with the back of the car. It just makes no sense to me, and I don't want BMW to stray even further from its roots with such a car. That, and the whole horsepower war is getting old.

So you think this is cool, yet you don't get excited by truly awesome cars?

Don't associate this abomination with the 911!

I mean, I'm sure it's engineered well, I know it has amazing powerplants, but it's just so damn pointless. I hope it gets killed soon.

Explain to me why.

EDIT: Ok, it's different. But explain the point to me? I know it's probably going to be okay to drive, but I don't see why BMW needs to put out these kinds of cars.

Is this your dream car, CJ?

Because it is.  That's why.

Raza

I think it needs bigger rims.  22s, at least.  Then it would be the hottest shit ever.

Raza, I like how you still love Mercedes-Benz, even though you know that's true for them too. R-Class? Remember the C280 4Matic? Those retards just bought that mediocre car for the badge. I'm sure the C300 is better, but people still pay that kind of money for the badge.

I'd say the same about the R class, but there's no graphic for Mercedes.

I pray that finds its way into the next 7-series.

People buy sedans all the time; they have the practicality of a wagon...with the practicality chopped off. Also, HP war getting old? When did happy competition like that get old?

The article mentions it will do just so, 5-series too.

I'd say this isn't a very practical car.  It's cool, but more in the way a concept is cool.

What interests me more is the new engine.  The 3.0Ltt engine supposedly has no lag and actually makes about 20 or more hp above the claimed 300.  If the 4.4L is similarly turbo-ed then it could perform as if it made 450hp or more.  That's gonna make for some kick-ass BMWs down the road (550i, 650i, 750i, X5 4.4, Mmm-Hmm).

nickdrinkwater

I think it looks great and like nothing else on the road.

omicron

Oh, blah. A 5-series wagon looks better, and the X5 probably does the wheel-in-the-flowerbed-at-Nordstrom thing more appropriately. Go away, you stupidly-proportioned lump.

As for you, lovely-sounding V8 turbo; you may stay for tea and scones.

Explain to me how the R-class is a bad car.

Never mind, I'll do it for me.  It isn't.

Why is the C280 mediocre, also?

It isn't a bad car, but, why? I mean, a Mercedes minivan? And don't be a smartass and bring up the Vaneo. The R-Class was an answer to a question that no one asked.

No, it was the answer to the question asked by those who wanted a three-row Mercedes.

Of course, then Mercedes answered it better with the GL.

Exactly. I see a LOT more GL's on the road than I do R-Classes.
