I don't like it at all.  It's pretty interesting, but that's where it ends.  It can't tow for shit.  If I buy a truck, I want it to be able to tow well.

Cookie Monster

The cab looks too small for how big the box is.

Keep in mind that this would fall in the "compact" pickup category.  It's smaller than its sibling the Colorado/Canyon.  In that segment, a 5900 lb towing capacity is right in the middle.  Well better than Colorado/Canyon (4000 lbs), better than Ranger/B4000 (5100 lbs), and a few hundred pounds shy of Frontier (6300 lbs) and Tacoma (6500 lbs).

Point taken.  I didn't know the Colorado/Canyon could tow that little.  That's just pathetic.

Must have bumped it up recently.  A couple of years ago it was only 5100-5200 lbs.

I think they bumped it up in 2006 when it got a new grille and shuffled trim and options etc.

You're what, 16?

You own sweet fuck all to tow anyway.

I'd buy this Hummer if it wasn't overpriced, kind of goofy looking and well out of my price range.

As for its towing capabilities, I've never towed a damned thing, ever, so I don't really care.

I wouldn't buy either, but It's a nice looking truck.

My dad has a class III Reese hitch on his Dakota and hasn't towed anything in the 3 years that we've owned it.

Unless you're a camper, a boat owner, horse owner, or a race car owner, towing doesn't mean all that much.

A snowmobile or ATV might weigh 500-600 lbs.  Trailer might weigh another 1000.  If that's all you have to tow, towing doesn't mean much.

I assume this only comes in four door configuration. :frown: I'd love it if it was an extended cab instead.

And I'll echo the towing comments.  Anyone who intends to tow more than ATVs or a light garden trailer wouldn't shop this class of vehicle in the first place.  They'd start with a half ton and move up from there.

Hmm, I could do that with the Rex.

This thing is stupid.  Guys who want to take their trucks offroad buy trucks they can see out of...not Hummers.  I see H3s and H2s with dubs and street tires all the time.  These trucks never see dirt and for good reason.

Before anyone else says it, the H2 is actually pretty capable.  There are people out there that actually do offroad them; few and far between, that's as may be, but it does happen.

Front suspension was really weak though, at least stock.

Capable? Yes.  Unfortunately incredibly difficult to see out of, which is a must for offroading.  I would never buy one if that's what I was going to use it for.  A spotter should come with the truck when you buy it.  I haven't driven one offroad but I have been in the passenger seat while offroading and I couldn't believe how difficult it was to see out of.  My buddy was sweating like pig because he didn't know where the other half of the truck was.

I usually see jet skis or ATV in multiples, usually 2 or sometimes 4 on a trailer. Still under 5,000 pounds though. Then there is all that crap a modern urban family needs to drag along for that weekend in the woods.

I don't think it's any more capable than other full-size GM products, save for the approach and departure angles, which increase due to the "hummer look" (i.e. the design of the nose and tail).

But given the choice, I'm always going to take a smaller SUV over its big brother. I wouldn't want a new Tundra or F-series for dirt duty, but I'd grab an older Tacoma or Ranger right quick.

Some tracks are just too narrow for the fat pigs. That's the H1's biggest problem.

I may have grossly overstated the trailor weight too.  I did some looking at what your typical open snowmobile trailer might weigh.  A single sled trailer might weigh about 400-500 lbs, with a double sled trailer being maybe 200 lbs more.

Bah, mid 90s family sedans work fine for towing small boats

I would have to say that the H2 is no more capable on the Platte river than a Suburban, a pickup, or even a geo tracker....
